Following the battle at hanger, the Haqqislam black ops team immediately moved to attack striking deep into Ariadna territory. We are not still not sure what their motives were. It is hard to tell with the Hassassin types. It is likely they are gathering intel on our holdings in the area. It could also be that they viewed the rescue mission as an attack on their interests in the area. Regardless, we should be prepared to for future incursions into the Xarak Defense Batteries’ perimeter.
Excerpt from a situation Report to Central Command
Captain Roger Wood, Intelligence Officer 7th Foxtrot Rangers
The opening assault on the Xaraks Battery was lucky tipped off by Wild Bill who happened to be in the area. A force of Muyibs moved into the area in an attempt to take control of a Xaraks antenna area for unknown purposes. Wild Bill moved in to block their assault, but unfortunately, he was still recovering from his injuries. Outnumbered and taken by surprise, he tried to hold off the team but was taken down at the start of the operation. A nearby squad of Marauders moved in to lend support, but as typical with the devious Hassassins they ran had placed some mines in the area, seriously injuring Rosie Munroe.
Rosie Munroe displayed her characteristic courage and grit as you charged off past her team to deliver a rocket salvo onto the defending Muyib, who quickly burned to death under the onslaught. Rosie passed out from blood loss shortly afterwards. We managed to recover her and she is resting in the infirmary. We are lucky to have operatives of her caliber.
The Hassassins moved in to counter attack with both a Farzan and Ghazi charging at the Marauder team. A lucky chain rifle shot took down 1stLt West and Sgt Barnes the heavy rocket launcher man. Emboldened by this success, the Muyibs attempted to attack Cpl Jones who was holding overwatch on one of the antennas. His arrogance got the better of him however. Cpl Jones had a rifle expert badge for all four years of his enlistment. It only took him one round to take out the Muyib before he could cause any more trouble.
Despite the confusion, the team managed to get a hold of the situation and secured two of the antennas. We still didn't know what the Hassassins were up to, so it seemed prudent to set up switch to full auto and lay down some mines to make any advance difficult.
It seems however, the the overall objective was to access the central data cluster. Knowing they could not hope to break through the other objects, the Hassassin team flooded the data cluster with smoke and charged the defending Cpl Gene dodging his mine on the way in.
He fought valiantly against two opponents holding his own and rallying backwards. However, they eventually managed to take him down.
After they accessed the data cluster, the remaining Hassassins departed the area. This is a troubling development. In a matter of hours, they have managed to complete their objectives and do serious damage to our forces on two separate occasions. Regardless of their objective, it is my opinion that Central Command should view all Haqqislam forces in the areas hostile from here on out.
