Asteroid Blues

Hi all, took me a while, but here’s my first batrep for Asteroid Blues, and a first attempt at some narrative story rather than just sorta describing how the game played out. Also this was one of the most fun Infinity game I played in a while, I think I never played The Grid before, mostly because 9 objectives is inconvenient for tournament organization and I rarely get to play outside a tournament setting.

A small CA strikeforece advanced through a network of tunnels to engage with the haqqislam forces at the Pakngein NBIS hangars. For this operation the EI deemed nescessary a use of maximal firepower, so the team was led by a Charontid equipped with enhanced optical sensors and a HMG to eliminate threats at range while under cover of a daturazi duo’s smoke, and the SA-00 raizot was set up to rush the enemy lines. Two ikadrones were also fielded for this operation to provide supply support, as well as a kurgat engineer to make nescessary field repairs, and a Q-drone equipped with plasma rifle was set to guard the Ur hegemony’s mapping unit for this operation. As combined’s force moved through the tunnels they happened upon an abandoned human fascility equipped with a sensory array, which was left there from the early human settlers of this planetoid. As the aliens carefully moved through a complex of abandoned buildings, multiple human Lhosts sprung on the charontids visual interface, and the combined strikeforce was hastily halted and prepared for combat.

Further exaination of the area has proven that the sensory array of this fascility could still be used, however there were no sufficient hackers present in the strikeforce to crack the passwords for operating the sensory grid, and the threat of humans using it to find the CA’s lair was deemed too high. Based on this, the Charontid ordered its subordinates to destroy the array with the tools at their disposal, even though only a select few of them carried weapons capable of damaging the sensory array’s antennas.

As the daturazi rushed forward to establish a smokescreen for the rest of the team, ALEPH’s forces initiated an attack from a TO concealed sniper perched on a nearby rooftop, but through skill or perhaps some luck the daturazi avoided it’s shots, and Charontid proceeded to promptly eliminate the threat. Afterwards, the everimpatient pilot of the SA-00 ran its armored bulwark over the righthand side of the sensory grid, launching mines at the estimated positions of ALEPH’s operatives, and as she rushed further forward she recieved a location of an ALEPH’s guide to the fascility, which was to be eliminated at all costs. Accompanied by the morat battlecry and the clacking of TAG’s weapon switching to a shotgun mode, SA-00 rushed in to crush a cowardly human hiding behind a pile of metal boxes,and as her mech was shot at from both sides by aleph’s operatives , she blew off half of the ALEPH’s guide with a single shotgun burst and retreated back to the main EI force. The aliens prepared for a counterattack, and ALEPH didn’t make them wait and retaliated with full force, Achilles ran out of one of the buildings and in a swift burst of spitfire shots demolished the Q-drone as well as dropped dead the taigha creature. Then the ekdromoi hacker jumped in from the cave’s ceeling and unloaded his chain rifle at the CA backline, but his Lhost was burned to a crisp by an ikadrone’s light flamethrower, and none of the combined were damaged in this attack. the Achilles retreated behind the building, an while myrmidons distracted the combined at their right flank, the thorakitai spotters marked a few of the sensory antennas to signal to the achilles that those are to be destoyed to deny those to the CA.
While the ALEPH operatives retreated, kurgat attempted to access one of the sensory antennas, but he couldn’t crack the security codes, so instead he just whacked those with some good deal of explosives and moved out to the central one under covering fire of the charontid’s HMG. The SA-00 raicho repositioned to the central line of the grid to aid in the demolition ops and to avoid unsupported close quarters engagement with the Achilles. As the Charontid and his morat subordinates advanced to secure the central antenna, they were ambushed by Dart, who filled kurgat with just enough bullets to take him out, and when the Charontid counterattacked she just jumped back behind the second storey of the building.
In a final attempt to push back against ALEPH’s attacks, the SA-00 moved to the left flank, and blew up one of the antennas along the way ending up just behid the leftmost closest one to the CA’s side. The Achilles ran out from behind the building on the same flank and in a vollye of shots from his spitfire has rendered raicho completly disabled, but instead of finishing off the pilot inside he moved back to destroy another antenna.
SA-00’s pilot was still focused on the mission at hand, and so she used her pack of D-charges to blow up an antenna near to the rubbles of her destroyed vehicle, rushing forward in a last-ditch effort to secure the only remaining one of the antennas, she was ambushed by a camouflaged naga and as she shot at the Achilles with er heavy pistols she took an AP shell to the chest and fell unconscious right behind the last antenna. As the situation has gone completely out of control and there was no way for CA’s force to even secure a position against ALEPH’s forces, not to say about moving forward to attack the the Pakngein NBIS hangars, the Charontid issued a tactical withdrawl order to all remaining forces, leaving behind ALEPH agents and hiding in the dark and twisted tunnels of the Gallery Maze…
