Asteroid Blues

We had left our table set up in my basement for Comms Center and real life crushed us both for time so we left the scenario as was and played this out as a custom scenario for The Gallery Maze: The Passageways.

We both played vanilla Nomads and Pan - O and limited it to 200 points full rules.

Malicious Pano chose to go first, and I had him setup first and on which side of board. His first move was getting into position and grabbing one antenna, and mine taking advantage of his move to quickly seize as many objectives as I could. I grabbed four Antenna's on first turn alone. Had he placed some guys into overwatch or not have stayed prone in a key roof top position it might have made a difference.

He tried to recoup on his turn two by bringing up his big guns and flank me on my right, little did he know I was ready for him. He tried shooting me up but I rolled five crits in this game and he simply writhered under my fire. It was a good day to be a Nomad. He also tried bringing his Bolt hacker around my flank not realizing I had a camo killer hacker in a bandit in wait for him. It wasn't pretty when it was my turn to have at him with a hack attack. The one crucial mistake he made was para dropping in Akal (successfully) in the rear of my lines on his last order, the Akal's order in fact.

By the end of my turn two I had walked my Tomcat Engineer and Zondcat on the side of my deployment zone and walked up behind his Akal (he failed his change face dodge) and I flamed him, only to have him make his armor save. So now he turned to face and I had to spend another order to combi him in face. I rolled one of the many crits in this game and took him out.

Once he realized the error of his ways, he did do a really great job with his limited resources on his last turn by pushing to get a point using his classified and successfully rolled a wip roll against my HVT.

We learned a lot, and we are able to make it through without the assistance of an experienced player like we used to do. I think it actually helped in our learning because we started to use the experience guys as a crutch instead of learning.
