Asteroid Blues

After the successful scouting mission to the Hangers command sought fit to grant our meagre remaining forces with re-inforcements and sent us to the Chimneys to aid the assault there.

On route to link with active EI forces we were pinned down by sniper fire from a small but elite Caledonian contingent, a quick message to command and our orders were changed. Supremacy of the area is the new mission. Their sniper rifles hit like a train thoughand the first casualty was one of the Nox troopers who was hit so hard the Spawn-Embryo was annihilated too by the single round.

The snipers kept us pinned despite one of them falling to HMG fire from the remaining Nox, whilst a full team of Wulvers accompanied by the Recreation Wallace approached behind cover of one of the buildings.

Our chance to counter attack came when one of the Cadmus landed right behind the remaining Sniper in his perch and took him out, also pinning the Wulver team in place. This allowed the Caliban to gain some ground and inflict some casualties on the Wulvers, whilst the other Cadmus dropped near by and I advanced to gain a foot hold in the area.

The Caledonian counter attack was stalled by a very resilient Caliban and they were kept pinned behind the building taking a casualty and wounding another Wulver in the process. A clunky tracke machine tried to advance on the other flank to put pressure on our forces elsewhere but was stopped by a lucky long range shot from the Nox.

With the Caledonian advance halted we pressed the advantage, the second Cadmus approached and Morpho Scanned the Recreation Wallace successfully before the Nox team advance up the centre to get line of fire to the Wulvers on the other side of the building from a safe distance, taking down another one.

With only one Wulver left Wallace threw caution to the wind and ran straight around the building to attack the Cadmus that had scanned it. The ensuing flamer burst dropped the Cadmus and almost singed myself. Wallace then callously stamped on the body crushing the Spaen-Embryo and destroying out chances of untilising the upgraded physique of that Cadmus before charging at myself. Going full beserk even whilst wounded I count my blessings that his aim wasn’t truer and that the armour the EI equiped me with was sufficient to stop the ensuing blow.

Our final push with the Nox up the centre sealed the fate of the Caledonians and those that survived withdrew to report their failure.

Final Note to command. Stop sending me Gwailos. I didn’t even mention him in this report as his contribution was so insignificant as to not be worthy. Both times I have allowed them in my force they have thought they were invinvible and were swiftly proven otherwise by inferior foes.
