Asteroid Blues

The Puppeteer decided it was high time to test the defenses in the Hangars Area. He assembled a small covert team to probe the defenses but at the last minute was assigned a Gwailos as support.

Shortly after arrving in the area his small team encountered an O-12 patrol. Confidently striding forward the Gwailos declared he had it covered and the keep moving. Seconds later he was shredded by rapid gunfire from an O-12 ‘dog’ handler. Well there goes the support he muttered before quickly formulating a counter attack.

First orders were to bunker down but 2 of the Nox troopers were too slow and were cut down by accurate long range fire from the rooftops and the Caliban was spotted and taken down by a hulking brute in powered armour whilst trying to avoid the mechanical dog on the flank. As the shooting stopped The Puppeteer took a second to clear his mind and enact a plan. Ordering his only Cadmus to drop behind the enemy lines to cause as much disruption as possible whilest the remainder of his little scouting party advanced.

The Cadmus landed beautifully behind the building that the O-12 forces were in front of without them noticing and then attempted to take out the brute who killed the Cadmus. Unfortunately his Combi Rifle was inneffective against the heavy armour on the first volley. Moving to re-position and engage the softer targets on the other side the Cadmus sprayed the big guy again to cover his movements and must have got a lucky shot as it stumbled back, still alive but worse for the wear. The other side of the building proved more profitable and 2 of the enemies line troops were taken out is short order.

The enemy counter attack came but was ultimately innefective as the Cadmus defended its position. An enemy drop trooper did appear on our rear taking down the remaining Nox trooper and then retreating to better cover. Fortunatley for us he left himself withing striking distance of The Puppeteer and was swiftly taken care of.

Both forces took heavy casualties but we inflicted more prominent ones and the enemy withdrew. We finished up scouting the area then headed back to base to report back our findings.
