VS ALEPH

Our first engagement in our defense of PanOceanian territory involved a skirmish with the Assault Subsection of the Aleph forces. The Hexahedron had informed us of their imminent attack on the Liberty Cargo Spaceport. I assembled a durable Fireteam consisting of a Father Knight Missile Launcher, Father Knight Spitfire, an Order Sergeant Paramedic, another Order Sergeant, and Konstantinos. Father Knight Michael would be serving as Lieutenant in this operation, his spitfire comfortably gripped in his powerful grasp. I ordered a Trauma Doc to be on standby near the Father Knight Missile Launcher as a failsafe should he fall unconscious. A supplemental Specialist Sergeant with her faithful Auxbot stood nearby, waiting for a chance to incinerate some Optical Disruptor Devices. Lying in wait in an orbital dropship, Santiago Knights Beethoven and Tchaikovsky checked their weapons, a Spitfire and Combi Rifle respectively. They were veterans of Wotan, and I trusted them to get the job done. A Crusader Brethren paced anxiously nearby, waiting for the rush of his Combat Jump.
When Steel Phalanx arrived, they quickly set up defensive positions around some of the nearby buildings. According to intelligence, they were being led by Ajax the Great and Phoenix. Two very formidable enemies. Surprisingly, our enemies set up in a very defensive position. There were no units in sight from our defensive line and it seemed the enemy was content to hide and let us come to them. Well, we did just that.
Turn 1: MO
Beethoven and Tchaikovsky landed in a blind spot of Phoenix’s Enomotarchos Fireteam. From my command console, I ordered them to form a Duo and to make sure nobody left alive. Beethoven rounded the first corner with his spitfire and sprayed a full burst into the back of the Myrmidon Spitfire. The Optical Disruptor Device is a lot easier to handle when your enemy can’t react. The nearby Myrmidon spun in shock as his companion collapsed in a heap. Beethoven fired a second volley into the Myrmidon and managed to win the shootout removing another unit from the equation. Rotating around the building to maintain cover, the Santiago Knights seemed to glide in step with the classical music blaring in their helmets. His sights set on a Myrmidon officer, Beethoven let loose another Spitfire spray, only for the Officer to disappear in a cloud of smoke. I ordered them to reposition and take a defensive stance. The Santiago Knights took cover behind a large vehicle in the road, managing to get a final shot on the Officer, taking them out before going into suppressive fire.
Turn 1: SP
Ajax, hearing from that Phoenix’s team had been dismantled, pushed his Fireteam forward toward our defensive position. The Myrmidons at his side used smoke to cover their advance, which was very order intensive. During this advance, the Agema Sniper stood up to challenge our Father Knight Missile Launcher. Righteous fury sent him flying as two missiles collided with his body. Ajax’s team set up in a single-file line just outside our deployment zone, ready to make a move on the next turn. Diomedes landed near the my Fireteam and jumped up onto our building to take out the Trauma Doc who attempted to defend herself. She survived one round of combat, but succumbed to the devastation of Domedes’ Mk12.
Turn 2: MO
If there is one thing that Auxbots love, it’s a group of enemies lined up in a single-file line. Benedicta maneuvered her Auxbot over to the Ajax’s Enomotarchos team and let loose a massive flood of holy flames. The physique of the Aleph units allowed most of them to dodge out of the way, but we were able to burn some ODD off of one of them. Now, Ajax’s team had a bigger problem. In an effort to spread out away from the flames, Ajax had exposed himself to the Father Knight Missile Launcher. The Missile Launcher decimated the link team. Once the dust settled, only a single Myrmidon remained. The Father Knight moved to attempt to remove Diomedes from his threatening position, but only managed to put a single wound on him. The Crusader Brethren landed safely behind Phoenix’s building in preparation for the next turn.
Turn 2: SP
Phoenix stood up and decided if you want something done well, you have to do it yourself. His rockets collided with the Father Knight, who burned to death. Now that the Fireteam was broken, Diomedes attacked an Order Sergeant and the Father Knight Spitfire. The Order Sergeant was sent unconscious, but the Father Knight stood his ground and put down the Aleph threat with a well-placed shot. Without much left to do, the final Myrmidon launched himself at the nearby Auxbot, rendering it unconscious but collapsing in a heap of flames as the Auxbot let loose another torrent of fire.
Turn 3: MO
Phoenix was the only remaining member of the enemy. The Crusader climbed up onto his building and attempted to burn away his ODD using his light flamethrower. Phoenix deftly dodged and a shootout commenced. The Crusader’s Multi Rifle found its mark, and thanks to shock rounds, Phoenix went down without a word.
