Battle Date 09/17/2019 – As the campaign began the Varuna Immediate Action Division was dispatched after word came down of Mercenary activity at the quarry. Though it isn’t as glamorous as defending the Sphere against a Combined Army incursion or protecting PanO interests against a Yu-Jing strike force it was still important to the greater war effort, and Varuna is usually first on the scene.

During the beginning of the battle a Kamau sniper, attached to a fireteam led by an elite ORC Trooper, was at the top of her game scoring six critical hits against enemy targets and virtually eliminating most of the Mercs heavy weapons. One of those killed by the Kamau was a Daiyokai Heavy Infantry who’s presence was unexpected amongst the Mercs rank. At the same time two Zulu Cobra units pushed forward to secure critical objectives and activate the necessary environmental regulators to keep the quarry life support active against the vacuum of space, which was only barely being held back by the flimsy design of the area. The enemy attempted to counter attack even incapacitating one of the Zulu Cobra units while pushing up to secure their own heater.

At the end of the battle the Zulu Cobra Killer Hacker managed to not only activate the last heater necessary to keeping them alive while in the dangerous zone, but also managed to get information out of a Yuan Yuan who had dropped too close to the Varuna lines before she executed him. Of additional note was the unique use of a Bulleteer with a Heavy Shotgun who managed to seek out and kill the enemy datatracker thus stopping the Mercs from securing the Quarry proper. Varuna forces suffered light casualties and all wounded were evacuated and are expected to make a full recovery. Conversely, The Mercs suffered heavy casualties and are expected to be delayed indefinitely. – Warcor Daniel Williams embedded with the 12th “Sharkfin” Varuna division

Addendum: PanO sensors allowed the identification of the Zulu Cobra Killer Hacker as the Varuna Datatracker who was responsible for securing the Quarry proper. In addition the Merc group was identified as those belonging to the Ikari Company.
