Asteroid Blues

PanO forces have successfully destroyed an Advanced Communications Console (AC2) through which aliens were planning to make further attacks on humanity. Their Morat enemies suffered such losses that they uncharacteristically decided to concede defeat and crept back into the passages where we suspect that more may still be hiding.

Joan recruited Brother Konstantinos and Guarda de Assaulto Suarez into her team, both carrying demolition charges to destroy the AC2. But recognising that she might need to destroy it personally, she delegated command to the dependable Fusilier Lieutenant Freyberg.

As planned, Suarez, advanced forward and his Auxbot fired Eclipse smoke grenades to cover Konstantinos’ route to the AC2. Konstantinos rushed forward and nearly destroyed it. The other members of the team redeployed to contest any Morat advance, then several, including Konstantinos began a suppressing fire.

Three Krakot renegades rushed forward impetuously, but Konstantinos wounded two, and Suarez, the third who had super-jumped into the air. Unfortunately, before falling dead, one wounded Krakot was able to doggedly advance and wound Konstantinos with his chain rifle.

A Rodok team engaged Suarez with their Heavy Machine Gunner. His Auxbot was damaged, but his armour absorbed all the hits as he scrambled back towards cover. Bizarrely, he was wounded by one of his own shots bouncing back at him. Then a sinister Rasyat dropped in next to the building where he had taken shelter. It attacked wounding him, but as he fell unconscious, he had the satisfaction of seeing his heavy flamer burn the monstrosity to destruction.

Dr Worm climbed onto a roof on the left to heal a fallen Krakot, but failed in the attempt. He was joined on the roof by one of the Yaogots who positioned himself to cover a wide area with his Panzerfaust.

Joan now made her move to complete the destruction of the AC2, but took damage when she was engaged by one of the Yaogots. Freyberg ordered Nisse Lars to move round to attack the alien left flank. This proved decisive as he successful despatched Dr Worm and the Panzerfaust-armed Yaogot on the roof followed by the heavy machine gunner from the Rodok team.

The Morats clearly realized that the game was up and disappeared into the tunnels. This left the Panoceanian forces free to call in medical aid for their wounded heroes and to finish off destroying the alien AC2. The team had succeeded beyond all expectations and disrupted the malevolent plans of the aliens.
