Asteroid Blues

Panoceanian forces at the Liberty Cargo Spaceport have repelled an unexplained attack by remnant Tohaa forces. At his time the reasons for the attack are unclear but the aliens fled the area after suffering heavy losses.
Joan was alerted that intruders had entered the Liberty Cargo Spaceport and immediately sent forces forward to investigate. Approaching the corner of a building on the left flank, Nisse Kurt was unexpectedly fired upon by a Gao-Rail (part of a Triad that also contained Neema and a Kumotail). He returned fire but only succeeded in destroying its symbiomate before the Gao-Rael ducked behind cover.

Attempts to eliminate the insidious Armand ‘Le Muet’ with grenades from a light grenade launcher failed so Nisse Kurt maneuvered to engage him. With expert shooting, he destroyed Armand’s symbiomate and damaged his armour, but then tragically fell victim to a flukey double-action shot.

Neema now led forward her triad team. Trying to work round behind Anaru, she was hit by mine and the Helot’s Light Rocket Launcher. She only survived because of her symbiomate. Retreating in her inactive symbionant armour, she managed to kill the Helot with her spitfire. This allowed the Gao-Rail to advance round and attack Anaru using his multispectral visor. Unfortunately, this was successful.

Next, a Clipsos appeared on the walkway. He surprised and wounded the warcor, but the Techbee was just able to dodge into cover.
Neema regrouped her forces, breaking up her Triad team and putting several on suppressive fire.
Things were looking a little grim for Joan with the losses suffered and the fact that the Tohaa forces had all her available lines of attack covered. However, now that the Neema’s original team was further forward, it was in a better range for the grenade launcher. Regular Maria, successfully took out a Kumotail and a Chaksa servant with speculative fire.

Crocman Hemi chose this moment to sneak forward. He surprised and killed the Clipsos on the walkway. Crawling forward to the edge of the walkway, he stood up and fired at Neema. She fell unconscious, opening the way for Joan to move to the bottom of the stairs and shoot down the combi-rifle armed Gao-Rail. She was however surprised when a Spitfire round from the second Gao-Rail glanced off her armour, prompting her to move back into total cover. Placing Crocman Hemi onto suppressive fire, she awaited the next Tohaa move.
In fact, Hemi was now in such a threatening position, that the Spitfire armed Gao-Rail tried five times to eliminate him, but he stood fast and the Gao-Rail had to give up. The remaining Kumotail shot a medikit to revive his unconscious counterpart, but only succeeded in killing him.

Joan consolidated her troops into a single group. She sensed that the battle had swung in her favour and impetuously rushed forward, noticing only at the last minute that there were actually three enemy troopers facing in her direction. Loading up shock ammunition, she fired one burst at each. As another Spitfire round glanced off her armour, she saw that she had killed the last Kumotail and a Kaeltar. The way was clear for the Knight of Santiago to arrive and eliminate the enemy datatracker. But the Tohaa commander had seen enough and decided to concede. We never really knew why they came here and can only hope that in future they expend their dwindling strength fighting against the Combined Army.
