Asteroid Blues

Be warned: This was a new game for one of the players, so some things might not make sense to veterans. We used this as a learning game to show how things worked!

The EI heard reports that Joan of Arc had been seen in the Spaceport of Liberty Cargo, and decided that this was a great opportunity to attempt to bring her into the fold! In order to achieve this objective, they elected to send the Avatar into the area to attempt to Sepsitorize her!

The game started with the Combined Army winning the roll and electing to go first.

The Avatar deployed in the middle behind some cover, with the 2 Ikadrons guarding either flan and everything else grabbing cover. The Speculo and Q-Dron were held in reserve.

The PanO player deployed Joan and the 3 Hospitallers in a Fireteam covering the middle of their DZ, with Joan inside a building. The two Spec Sergeants with the Auxbots deployed covering each other, and hidden behind some containers, and the other two Order Sergeants deployed to cover the other side of the table. The black Friar was on the same building as Joan, but on the roof.

For the reserves, the Q-Drone deployed in total cover, with room to move out to the left if needed, and the Speculo deployed near Joan, to try and get in to make a quick kill.

Firs turn:

The Speculo made it’s run to Joan. I played it very aggressively to really demonstrate what a danger the Speculo could be. I also used this as an early demonstration of how CC works, and how AROs can be delayed. Ultimately, a few orders in and Joan killed the Speculo in a glorious battle! The Speculo forgot that we wanted to Sepsitorize Joan! Oops!

After the Speculo failed spectacularly, the Avatar decided it was time to take things into his own massive hands! He started progressing up the table. His first target, the Black Friar. First face to face, and the Black Friar crit the Avatar! The next order the Avatar made short work of him, and started to move further up the table. Eventually he came around a corner near the fireteam and the Order Sergeant, and we were able to demonstrate the brutal efficiency that is the Sepsitor Plus. The Avatar took control of an Order Sergeant, while eating a second crit in the process!

Next, the Avatar decided to try to take out some Knights! I ended up with a LOF to the Doctor and the HMG (with the HMG in the back arc). I declared an idle and he decided to dodge with the Paramedic. Because the HMG was just outside of 8, and facing the wrong way, he couldn’t declare an ARO until I shot him. When the Doc dodged, I put everything into the HMG who reacted by shooting (with Sixth Sense). This caused the doc to leave the Fireteam, and the HMG to get shot in the back repeatedly!

At this point I had 1 order left, and decided to put the Avatar into suppressive to hope he’d survive.

PanO turn 1:

The first thing the PanO player did was walk a Crusader Brethren in behind the Avatar but within 8″… so the Avatar elected to Change Facing and ended up succeeding on a 5!

The Crusader thought it would be a good idea to shoot the Avatar, and succeeded in hitting him once. He ate a Sepsitor for his trouble and failed the save. Another welcome addition to the Hegemony! The Avatar also passed his save to spite the Crusader!

Joan being the badass that she is decided she had to deal with the Avatar herself. She (and her 2 lackeys) came along and shoot the Avatar with her Spitfire. I failed my shot back, and Joan ended up putting the Avatar down. I elected not to use G: Mnemonica at this point and put the Avatar unconcious.

Joan then spent another order shooting into the Avatar, but he made his saves even while unconscious. Joan then decided to put it down for good with a Coup de Grace, at which point the Mnemonica kicked in and switched to the Morat Hacker.

That pretty much ended the MO players turn, and the Combined decided to come back with a Vengeance.

First, the converted Crusader put a Shotgun round into Joan and the Doctor, causing 1 wound to Joan and killing the Doctor (who had taken a wound previously). The the Krakot came out and started advancing up the table. First, an Order Sergeant came out of TO to ARO him, and he reacted with 2 chain rifles to the face. The Order Sergeant failed his save, and the Krakot didn’t!

The Krakot then went after the remaining Knight, and put him down with some lucky Chain Rifles. He then went as far as to engage Joan and ended up killing her in CC (after making yer another armor save!).

This left the MO player with 3 orders and in LoL.

His second turn he tried to cover up his guys, but ultimtely they got gunned down by the Q-Drone under assisted fire.

The game ended up 7-3 with only 112 points left on the table.
