Asteroid Blues

- Introduction -

After the Shock Army's recent success in gaining ground in the International Spaceport against the Haqqislam forces, PanOceania's high command put LT.Helot in command of the Hyperpowers finest. Armed with the best soldiers from the capitol it was time to strike out from the beachhead established by the blood and sweat of other Pan Oceanian commanders and put the alien menace's fortifications to the sword!

- Deployment -

The Neo Terran Capitaline force failed the initiative roll in a spectacular fashion allowing the Shasvastii to take the first turn. Most of the Shasvastii forces infiltrated into the center of the board with tons of camo markers popping out of every nook and cranny of the shantytown. A mixed team of nox a missble bot and a character deployed to the left side of the board while a gwailo victor and a bot deployed on the right.

The Neo Terran force had a defensive core team of fusiliers and a CSU deploy along a prominent sightline covering two of the possible approaches to the designated target. My haris team of bolts and a friar deployed on the far right flank as far away from the Gwailo as possible ready to strike the enemies designated target. I hid deployed my Swiss guard on top of a tower as well as my auxilias out of sight ready to forward observe some objectives.

Shasvastii take it away by activating a camo token on a roof and sneaking over to one of the objectives only to fail and to add insult to injury have to take a save from the hostile environment! Luckily the sneaky alien passes his save.

Next the Nox fireteam moves to engage my fusilier team with its missile bot but with its burst advantage stripped away by the saturation zone it fails the face to face against my superior Oan Oceanian missle launcher and the bot as well as an unfortunate shasvasti bystander gets caught in the blast and are reduced to ash.

Lastly, the Gwailo slices the pie on my Fusilier sniper and after two rounds of exchanging shots manages to put her down. Victor attempts to designate the terminal and takes a wound from the environment but succeeds the second attempt.

The Neo Terrans start off their turn by sending the Auxilia into action. Between their combined efforts they manage to Designate 4 objectives in preparation for their destruction. With the secondary combat group exhausted the Bolt haris spring into action (as fast as mediums can spring) and charge toward the enemy designated target. The datatracker bolt blasts the hvt with his light shotgun but falls prey to the environment after rolling two eighteens. The datatracker lost in the tunnels the black friar finishes the job and succeeds in filling the HVT with holes.

Absorbing the last remaining orders the swiss guard makes his move. He moves up to the solar panels and slices the pie on each member of the Nox team eliminating them one by one with heavy PanOceanian firepower!

With the Shasvasti numbers heavily depleted the Combined army commander decides to focus on objectives and manages to destroy two of the designated objectives but unfortunately the Gwailo takes two wounds from the environment in the process and goes down. (Yikes)

The Shasvasti make a mad dash towards the Panoceanian line using coordinated orders in an attempt to break through onto my designated target. In a horrendous turn of luck for the Combined Army every shot missed on both sides but everyone involved in the coordinated order died to the Hostile Environment. (Guy just can't catch a break.)

The Neoterran turn started by having the Swiss guard fill each designated objective full of holes which ended up taking every order in the primary group. The Auxilia in the secondary group designated and destroyed one more objective.

The combined army being down and out makes one last desperate charge for my designated target. A lone Shrouded trots harmlessly through 4 aroing units without a scratch but was unable to get line of sight on my designated target with the orders he had left. Having scored the most points I could possibly score I didn't play out my third turn and we decided to call it there.

The Neo Terrans ended up walking away with an 8 - 0 win against the Shasvastii. It was a vicious battle that could have gone either way had a roll or two worked out for the combined army. I think the Thicket killed more of the units on the table than either of us did. All in all a great outing for the Neo Terrans and another glorious day for the Hyper Power!
