Operation Shield of Liberty

Varuna detachment Blue Destiny had barely touched ground before things started going awry.
Upon disembarking from the dropship the Kamau  haris team lead by Patsy Garnett found themselves in a sticky situation – their landing area had been compromised with a mine mere feet away from them and their dropship. The fusilier fireteam lead by a season Varuna ORC already on the ground as well as a Zulu Cobra up high all attempted to resolve the situation but failed. (4 failed discover rolls)
Running out of options quickly and with a DZ to secure the Kamau took matters into their own hands and the team all dodged to safety, with only Patsy taking a wound despite her otherwise impressive PanOceanian armor.
While the Fusilier fireteam maneuvered up the city block they were suddenly ambushed from a rooftop in the distance. A Noctifer equipped with a Missile Launcher fired his shot which instantaneously turned poor Fusilier Jefferies, Vazques as well Bipandra Jansen to red, charred paint on the pavement.
As a short shuffle, the adaptable Kamau and Patsy took charge of the situation and reformed the former two teams into one, and the Kamau Sniper promptly brought down the Noctifer with two round of Double Action ammo.
Then suddenly the civilian who’d been cowering by their Landing Zone revealed himself to be a Speculo before placing another mine in their midst, but was swiftly executed by Patsy for his efforts.
Before the team had time to react, the counter attack by the Shasvastii forces had begun.
From around buildings came Taigha creatures, with murder in their eyes and the small but savage frames to back it up.
The Kamau used the impetuous nature of the Taigha to quickly trigger the mine as safely as they could, but it cost them an unfortunate but expendable Bulleteer Dronbot in the process. Next the Taigha was cut down in short order as they attempted to make their way towards the encroached fireteam, but not without inflicting some losses on the besieged PanOceanians as the Kamau equipped with a Rocket launcher was cut down by a hail of metal fragments.
With the expendable aliens neutralizerd the Shasvastii began their true offensive. A small haris team lead by the fearsome alien known only as Sheskiin moved her way towards the action, flanked by a Gwailos and a remote.
The Gwailos and the remote, protected by voodoo tech nano screens moved into line of sight of the ORC heavy gunner and Kamau Sniper. The Sniper wearing a Multi Spectral Visor was unable to get a visual on the Gwailos and instead fired on the Remote which was promptly destroyed.
The ORC however locked in on the Gwailos and opened fire, but the nano screen successfully did its job and protected the foul alien whom himself opened fire at the unsuspecting Kamau sniper – the resulting explosion leaving little left of the soldier.
Next up was Sheskiin. Invigorated by the PanOceanian blood spilled, she charged forward using her devious voodoo tech to provide her with cover as she rushed foward. She quickly cut down the ORC HMGer who even behind cover and firing back had no hope to stand against her as she critically hit him twice, ripping open his faceplate and instantly killing the poor soldier inside.
Surviving all incoming retaliatory fire in the process.
The ensuing firefight was long and perhaps more draining than the Shasvastii initially had planned. Sheskiin killed the Zulu Cobra perched up high as well as the last remain fusilier bravely firing back every chance he got before he was finally downed. The battle was taking its toll.
In the final moments of the counter offensive, Sheskiin hunkered down and was ready to lay down suppressive fire in order to prevent the PanO forces from moving further up field.
Patsy surveilled the situation and called out over her radio chat, but the previous chaotic cacophony of voices had died down.
All that was left was her and two Zulu Cobras standing firm against all odds. But that was all that was needed she thought to herself before leaning out of cover to fire her SMG at the hunkered down alien in front of her. Two bursts later and the cursed foe was vanquished. Sheskiin had finally been felled… But resources were running previously low and she was still wounded.
She braced against the wall next to her and she prepared for whatever would come at her next with suppressive fire and zeal.

Suddenly the sky split open as several pods plummeted from up above, one of which landed right behind Patsy. The crack of the impact was enough to break her concentration and she turned halfway to see what happened. A slimey and foul smelling pod was embedded in the asphalt next to her. Then without warning, the Gwailos re-emerged on her flank and all she could do was to fire back a single burst as a hellstorm of rockets came her way. Although her shot failed to hit, this time her advanced armor saved her and despite the fiery impact, she was unscathed. The gwailos continued his attack however and Patsy eventually slipped into unconsciousness.
On the PanOceanian right flank, the last remaining Taigha, having survived all attacks managed to get within range of the Zulu who desperately fired his Shock Marksmanrifle. Mutual destruction.
The Varuna Regiment was all but annihilated that day, but not without causing significant losses to the alien intruders. A heroic sacrifice to help safeguard the Human Sphere.
