Asteroid Blues

As soon as I heard about the bounty on the Drunk Yuan Yuan, I knew I had to send my men to the Jiyuan Open Pits.

The mission memo noted that I need to secure territory to perform search for the fugitive, and to meet amy resistance with excessive force. The search operation will be conducted via a data tracking agent routed through my Karakuri unit – so I had to make sure she is always in a secure quadrant.

Needless to say, the incumbent Yu Jing forces (represented by our local player Max) were not great fans of the Ikari just casually showing up in their territory, so they immediately sprang up on an offensive of their own. They spearheaded the counterstrike with a Garuda tacbot, which seemed to not have been properly maintained, since it failed to remove the Tanko on a dominant height and fell victim to his return fire. The second line of attack was headed by a group of Kuang Shi lead by a Celestial Guard; they moved into Ikari positions, killing a warcor on the way, but then were stopped by the same Tanko, and unfortunately even failed to kill the Krakot renegade, who just rolled his armor saves like a champ. With the attack blunted, the Hsien and his Zhanying mates took defensive positions, and Kanren moved upfield.

Ikari then took the offense in their hands. First, the Krakot went on a sweeping operation against the remaning Kuang Shi, killing one but falling to return fire. I was hapy to see that fate presented me with a good test subject for the secondary objective of this mission: to test a new drug just recently obtained from a “supply run” and already loaded in the company doctors Yaozao. We ran the test on the Krakot and he rose back to coninue fighting! Meanwhile, the two Yuan Yuans that I had held off the main theatre of operations ambushed Hsien and his friends, killing one Zhanying. The Krakot hurried to the same spot and killed the Hsien with grenades. Seeing that almost all is clear, the Karakuri went ahead, killed the remaining Zhanying and activated the search agent.

(turn ended, and my opponent basically conceded, because he only had Lu duan, Rui Shi, leutenant and a hidden ninja hacker remaining, while I lost only a warcor and the Krakot; we did the scoring for all three turns immediately at this point).
