The EI Exploration X Peacekeeping force (EXP) are quick to arrive in the gallery maze,
seizing the initive of the situation, they position with full intent of making the first move.
The commanding mentor for the outreach program elects that two M-Drones, a Shoudred, and a Caliban are to position themselves to quickly seize the broadcasting antennas. A Makreep positions themselves to provide cover. Meanwhile, a Speculo moves up into the maze to throw down smoke if needed.
Moving first, and swiftly, a Caliban makes the first run for an antenna. Pressing the button and blowing it apart in the first attempt.
The M-Drones, having received their orders, each then move up to designate an antenna each without any enemy resistance.
The Makreep, seizing the opportunity, moves upfield through the maze to open fire on each antenna until they are destroyed.
Without an opportunity to move before the pesky Ikari react, the M-Drones are left standing in the open while the Makreep takes cover on the right side flank.
Not to be outdone by the initial actions of the EXP, Ikari send out a total reaction bot with supportware to eliminate threats. Quickly and ruthlessly, the bot mows down the Makreep, and under the hail of gunfire, forces the Caliban to seek cover.
Under more gunfire, one M-Drone is wiped out, pieces scattered across the floor. Machinery and antenna fragments intertwined.
The Ikari menace also complete a search-and-destroy mission on the harmless EI civilian spreading the good word.
Recalled by the horrors of human activity, the EL peacekeeping force quickly reposition themselves to defend the remaining consoles.
The remaining M-Drone receives orders to sacrifice itself in order to designate an antenna. Under heavy reactionary fire the machine falls to pieces, but it achieves the mission.
Bit decides she’s too pinned by to fulfil her data-tracker objective against the designated target, so delegates the responsibility to a Fraacta which transverses behind the DT. Fumbling the shot, the Fraacta is left out of the open with a surviving DT.
Under continued brutalism, the Ikari take turns to take apart the CA’s objective grabbers, removing the majority of threats off the battlefield, achieving a couple of button presses in the meantime.
In a last-ditch effort to secure the mission before they retreat out of the maze, the combined carefully deploy a 2nd Fraacta to fire onto the Designated Target, killing a bot in the meantime.
With the last opportunity to achieve the mission, the Ikari set their eyes on another antenna to activate. To cover themselves from the nearby Fraactra, a Ikari trooper tosses a smoke grenade onto the site, obscuring it from prying alien eyes.
However, the smoke itself has a detrimental effect on the lone trooper trying to place demolition charges on the objective, fumbling all 3 attempts. Another trooper, armed with a multi-rifle, attempts to shoot through the smoke at the antenna – but the device is too heavily armoured for the shots.
Ultimately, the CA broadcast is sent, and the 3 remaining EI troopers retreat out of the maze, having achieved a minor victory.
gotta agree…some more pics would be nice. Still: nicely done and a victory for CA!
Congrats on the win. The report is enough words for me now, although it is unclear to me if Caliban destroyed the antenna on 1st turn (disallowed by scenario rules). A few more pictures placed within the text would make the read more engaging.
You put some effort into the write-up my friend. Good work on that. Would have liked to read about the Ikari Force composition. But good job so far.
So my battle report didn’t load apparently, will re-type it!
Congrats on the win; but we need more to learn.
