Played my first ever game against Invincible Army and while they are pretty tough I wouldn’t quite call them invincible. I won the roll off and opted to take the first turn although the side my opponent took for deployment allowed him to quite nicely cover all the objectives so I would have to fight hard for any progress on the mission.

My turn 1 started off I would say alright. My Irmandinhos got some decent loot with one getting an AP rifle and the other +2 ARM so he might actually survive a bullet. I dropped them down on my right side to try and use some of the LoS blocking terrain to push up with their impetuous orders with the rifle one using the groups regular order to enter suppressive fire to try and slow down the big guys when they pushed up. My Vet Kazak link started off poorly since I placed them too far forward one the second short skill so he took a wound and was dropped to his NWI before using my next order to retaliate, turns out light infantry don’t like taking a linked HMG to the face as my shot promptly killed him. Even with it being in my favour I didn’t want to get into a duel with a DA sniper when I am not in cover so my link shimmied forwards while prone to take some shots at his HI harris link although even with a crit and 4 hits I only managed to get the single wound on him. Pull them back afterwards left them in a poor position though with 2 team members being sat out of cover and the other 3 team members being sat behind a small building and unfortunately I ended my turn like that.

My opponents first turn started with him using his sniper to take out one of my exposed Line Kazaks and removing my BS bonus. His TO camo marker then proceeded to make it way up the left flank and kill the other Line Kazak but his attempt to take out the Vet Kazak was dodged putting him out of LoS while still leaving me able to cover the Harris with his HMG. The harris team decided to take the risk and stood up only for their HMG to get promptly finished off by my Vet Kazak with a crit, my luck this game seemed to either be really good or really bad. His TO guy proceeded to push up further and sent a nanopulser at what remains of my link and wiping out all but a Line Kazak but he paid for it as a camo marker that hadn’t been reacting until now revealed itself to be Vassily who removed this guy with his T2 marksman rifle. However this had left my ability to cover my right flank very reduced and his now duo team decided to try and take advantage of that but that AP rifle my Irmandinho had picked up earlier proved its worth by allowing the suppressing fire to take out normal member of the duo just leaving some guy called Krit up. His paramedic then tries to do some ranged healing but of course the curse of +1B kicks in and he cancels out his efforts before killing the guy with his second attempt.

My second started with me moving my spec-ops into my main group since I knew group 2 was going down this turn. Both my Irmandinhos proceeded to charge forward on their impetuous orders and each went down to trying to tank sniper fire with their faces. My Spetsnaz drops down on the left flank to try and do his job and cripple the link team but due to poor rolls and my part and great ones on my opponents he doesn’t do anything beyond letting them all turn to face him and his next attempt only manages to wound the sniper. I pushed my Spetsnaz HMG up the board as a camo token before revealing him to take a shot at the my opponents sniper and finally dropping him before doing a coordinated recamo with him and Vassily.

My opponents turn 2 is where things started to go wrong as he hadn’t played this faction much yet and I didn’t know any of it at all. He thought his sniper was a 2W model so he picked him up with the paramedic and then the sniper revealed and shot my Spetsnaz which allowed Krit to move further up and into suppression to try and lock down the tech coffin while his Camo LT pushed up to prepare for an antenna push.

My turn 3 was started with me making a risky move and revealing my Scout FO, who was also my liasion officer, to try and remove his sniper again but sadly didn’t manage it and he went down instead. All I had left able to do anything was the Camoed Strelok who slipped into the tech coffer building via the back window and after some movement shenanigans was left prone behind the tech coffer to at least hopefully get me something out of this mission.

My opponents turn 3 involved his LT using his orders to go and grab ahold of one of the antenna while Krit played a fun game with my Strelok of who will die first? Him using a chain colt and my Strelok using his shotgun, sadly after surviving 2 hits my Strelok was dropped on the third and Krit was able to go and control the tech coffer.

After the battle it turns out my opponents sniper wasn’t 2W but NWI and him surviving that second wound was actually pretty massive since it swung the game so my opponent decided to count it as a bye in my favour for this one. So now I will have to get a rematch so we can do this properly. I also apologise for the lack of names of my opponents units but I don’t know what any of them are yet but hopefully his report will fill in that blank.
