This was a game where the dice liked to crit, and my opponent was really good at saving.
It’s been a hectic weekend, but slipping this in real quick.
I lose the Lt Roll, and my opponent chooses to go second to mitigate the strength of the Tohaa reactive deployment. Kampilan will say something like how he deployed in a "refused flank" but I'll be honest -- I have no idea what that means.
However, I get my pick between Angus and the Fat Yuan Yuan, and of course I go with the silly drunk berserker!
Main Objectives: HVT Inoculation, Experimental Drugs, Test Run, Predator
Haqq Side Obj: Mapping / Canceled for Secure HVT
Tohaa Side Obj: Data Scan
As I don't have anything with structure and only a weak hacker, I'm not very well-equipped for these missions. Thankfully, I brought a Doctor, and between the Surda and Fat Yuan Yuan, Predator should be attainable, right? Right? (Spoiler, it isn't.)
Top of 1:
Fat Yuan Yuan lands safely. I really wanted to get him near Angus to get the brawl started in earnest, but the two Total Reaction Bots were just in the way. Still, he finds a good spot and rushes the nearest sneaky Mukhtar to engage in CC. This Mukhtar proves to be the toughest Abraham in the pub.
The Kerail lays down smoke for the Gao-Rael sniper, who attempts to take out the TRBot. Our first crit happens on its dodge of 4. The Gao-Rael fires again through the smoke and receives a crit in the face for his trouble, knocking out his symbioarmour.
The Surda run ahead and dodge against the AROs coming at them from another TRBot. They place themselves somewhere sticky to tie down the other Mukhtar lurking on a bridge.
On the other side of the field, the Makaul near the HVT (Candy Double) smoke corridors his group forward so the Kamael can get a Data Scan hack against the Mukhtar. This unfortunately fails.
The Draal sets down the Dazer, a really annoying obstacle which proves to be my doom later.
Bottom of 1: Haqqislam
The Kamael gets fried by a Cybermasked Leila. It's Skullbuster vs Shield-3, which sadly doesn't go my way.
The TRBot goes for the Kerail directly and thankfully misses. It also takes a potshot at one of the Kaeltar, who saves. The Surda Symbiobeasts rearrange themselves into the cover of the bench. With another order, it beats the Kaeltar's flashpulse (Kaeltar saves), but it pushes one of the Surda into dogged state.
The Mukhtar tries to escape the Fat Yuan Yuan's drunken fury, but gets clocked instead. His toughness is legendary, though, so the Mukhtar stays standing.
Tariq then joins the brawl, gets shot at by the assembled Tohaa ARO. Tariq does a really good dodge, but the Fat Yuan Yuan's attack goes in regardless because of Berserk. Tariq saves, but the Fat Yuan Yuan goes down to DA.
A hidden Taureg tries to surprise the Makaul but misses. Sadly out of Heavy Flamethrower range. After another attempt, the Makaul smoke dodges into Eclipse.
The Mukhtar, now free to do as it will, shoots the Kaeltar down.
Top of 2: Tohaa
Extremely Impetuous Order: The Makaul runs forward to the top of the building and receives AROs from everyone, but aims its flamethrower at Tariq and the Mukhtar. Everyone dodges and the Makaul goes down.
The Kerail and Surda go in to Pulzar the Total Reaction Bot. The remaining Surda goes into dogged and the Kerail takes a hit. Angus finally takes down the Surda when it leaps up to attack the Mukhtar on the bridge (who unfortunately saves).
The Gao-Rael and Sukuel Missile Launcher try for the TRBot on the roof; the Gao-Rael goes down, allowing the Kumotail doctor to heal, fulfilling one mission objective.
The Draal enters an extended firefight with the Taureg. After a lot of bad misses, it finally goes in for the CC Viral Pistol attacks, but nothing happens.
Other triads try to get into position but my own Dazer restricts their movement!
Bottom of 2: Haqqislam
With command tokens, the groups get consolidated.
The Mukhtar on the bridge stands up and gets shot a lot. More crits, more problems.
Angus takes down the Kerail Precepter so that the Monstrucker has a clean shot at repairing a TRBot, fulfilling Test Run's objective.
Taqir creeps long a blind spot to find his way into CC with the Draal -- who retaliates with a D-Charge. Sadly, the Draal receives a crit and the Haqqislam achieve Predator.
The Mukhtar peeks out to shoot down the Sakiel Lt. Kaeltar Specialist Einhorn thankfully crits on his flashpulses because of all the negative modifiers he receives for firing on a Mukhtar.
Tariq moves forward and gets attacked by the Sukuel, Kaeltar, and Kosuil. The Sukuel gets crit, the Kaeltar crits on flashpulse again.
Tariq shoots down the Dazer and goes into cover with the extra movement he's allowed now.
The Tuareg goes into TO camo, gets discovered by the Kaeltar. It fails to put a mine down, and so goes back into marker state. There isn't much between the Haqqislam and my HVT now, and no way I can score the rest of these points.
Top of 3: Tohaa
Since no more missions are possible, we try to destroy Haqqislam orders to deny further achievement of objectives. Sniper wars initiate between my ARO team and the Mukhtar on the bridge, but it lives and goes into hiding.
Bottom of 3: Haqqislam
It's a straight walk to my HVT, allowing the completion of the final medical mission objective and Secure the HVT. Good work Haqqislam.
Good work commander, writing up losses can be a rough chore.
╭( ・ㅂ・)و Bahh! but the honor is safe, congrat Haqqislam and ʕノ•ᴥ•ʔノ ︵ 10 stars +1 commend
I like your report! Clear and informative! And great that you keep using Sakiels and Kerail Preceptors!
Great report!
great job budd
Nice detailed blow-by-blow! I went a lot more impressionistic with my own report, so this is an excellent and readable account of the action of the battle as a whole.
Nice report dude,
