In the depths of the Chimney we detected strange signals. We located the the source inside a transmitter station that was ours. Or so we thought. The signals were obviously not Aleph based…
I was sent on a mission to shut the pirate signal down and make sure whoever was behind that would not be able to broadcast again.
Turn 1
As we arrived, we managed to surprise an NA2 Squad operating with our antennas! Not losing any time, Asura charged into the scene straight through the middle towards the squad commando. Halfway across she was ambushed by a hidden Saito Togan. Distracted by his appearance, Asura missed the Designated Target and the Bounty Hunter she was heading for as a Data Tracker. Instead she had an extensive shoot-out with a clumsy-acting close combat specialist. Almost out of ammo, she finally took him down, but had to search for cover due to a small injury, low ammo, and a quickly hardening mass that hit her from the Adhesive Launcher. „Luckily“ she was within reach for the Yudbot Sophotect had sent after her. So far so good… Then something went terribly wrong… Suddenly remembering the pleasure of giving a Coup de Gráce to McMorrough when they last met, she fell into a bloodrush and instead of helping the Asura, she killed her…
After the first rush of my troopers, the NA2 quickly found back to their usual form and advanced rapidly, manipulating some Antennas on their way. The Fireteam, not paying attention, ended up in crossfire between the two Devas that were with Asura and a Naga. The Rui Shi behind the Zhúyŏng got a full load of lead, and the Bounty hunter died in the fire of the Sensor Deva. In return, both Devas were shot.
A Libertos met one of our Mines and went down, protecting the Hunzakut that, unopposed, started modifying even more antennas…
Turn 2
After a rather hard start, we tried putting together everything we had left and tried to get back in control. Multiple attempts of Andromeda brought only two designated antennas and one of them was permanently disabled… At least she was able to split the opposing fireteam by taking down the Forward Observer Zhúyŏng, where Dart had failed just before.
The McMorrough advanced, ready to smash some of the already designated antennas, but rather got a hit from andromeda. The remaining Zhúyŏng was completely pissed and went on on his own. He successfully took down Andromeda and Dart, freeing the way for a second run of McMorrough. He managed to destroy two more antennas before going down from a full load of the waiting Naga.
In the shadows of the battle, a Dozer managed to place multiple D-Charges and blow up an antenna, and patiently he waited for the second one to detonate as soon as anything would move by.
Turn 3
Everything dependent on Sophotect now. Shecould still at least distract the NA2 signals by designating enough antennas. Still a little distracted by irrational and bloodlust-ful thoughts she needed several tries per antenna, leaving no time for any D-Charges…
She even triggered a D-Charge of the Dozer that ended up blowing up one more antenna.
Out of almost nowhere appeared another Forward Observer and designated 2 more antennas for the enemy…
After losing Asura that early and not even to an enemy attack, the morals of our troopers were already pretty low. I am very proud they still stayed and tried everything they could. But still a hard loss for the AI… We did not even manage to decode the signals in the heat of the battle…
Was a nice fight! It was closer than I Looks. When you’re alpha striking assura came through, it would Have been a much closer fight and probably a different result.
Better luck next time, your Sophotec reminds me the Trauma-Doc who fails everything when I play PanO 😉
Good report, I really like the stage
Well-written report! You’ll have your revenge on those mercs yet.
