Asteroid Blues

With the investigation into the shasvastii presence at the main strip of Novyy Bangkok being curtailed at every opportunity by mercenary pmcs, Undercover operatives have been sent to infiltrate the area and gather information on NA2 involvement. Now, with the conflict on the main strip escalating, a team have been sent to extract them.

“Lets make this quick people, the brass want what ever info this guy has and preferably him alive. There is heavy Mercenary activity in the area keep eyes open and comms clear.”

No sooner had the team taken up position than a grenade landed in the centre of the central buildings.
“CONTACT!”
The link teams Son Bae remote exploded in a ball of flames.
“Shots from inside the smoke! take cover!”
Foot steps could be heard moving into the centre of the AO.

“Ma’am we have incoming from the HVT.”
“Patch him through!”
Kzzkt.. “Lieutenant the enemy have discoverd my position! Request immediate...... shit i hear them.... I’ve uploaded the data to the local network.... oh god! no plea...................”
“God damn it!” The Lieutenant thumped the nearby wall in anger.
“Listen up! This has got fubar real quick, The HVT is down. All data collected has been sent to the local network... which means these mercenary shits have it too! We need to accertain who has it, take them out and secure the data.”
“Roger, do you you have eyes on the enemy Lieutenant?” Said Sheng.
“Negative, moving out t.........” The Lieutenant’s armour shut down.
“Crap I’ve been hacked! They have a repeater network in place, my systems are down. Recon get a lock on whoever’s got that data.”
The smoke cleared in the centre revealing a Rui Shi and a heavily armoured zuyong training his Hmg at the link team. Sheng pulled a pin from a grenade and launched it over the barrier she was using for cover, stunning the remote, popping out from cover she opened fire with her MK12 destroying it entirely. Above her the Haidao sniper snapped up from prone and fired at the zuyong, although taking a wound his aim was true and the enemy heavy infantry’s head exploded.

With his advance cleared the Zencha dived from the roof and climbed the opposite wall with astounding skill, as he approached the console his armour froze and his optical sensors flickered. His armours hacking protection kicked in saving the zencha from becoming a statue. He jacked into the network
“Ma’am i have the enemy HVT’s position, right flank behind the cargo containers.”
“Recieved, good work trooper!”
“And Ma’am... McMurrough is guarding him!”
“Pfft, that mutt is mine!” Sheng replied with a scary glee.

The link team moved from cover and towards the target.
“We are being hacked Sheng!”
“Bloody good job you brought that tin bot then trooper, let it do it’s job.”
Some how the little bot looked strained under the weight of the incoming hacking attacks. The team continued towards the target, peering around the corner she saw the snarling face of McMurrough looming over a stack of crates, as Sheng swung around the corner the dog soldier pulled a pin from a grenade and slung it towards her. With the skill befitting her status she blasted the grenade out of the sky and put a bullet between McMurrough’s eyes, the beast staggered around looked confused and dropped to the floor.
“I dont know how much more this little guy can take Sheng!” The constant hacking attacks had made the tin bot sluggish and jittery.
“Let’s hope enough time to take out this HVT.”
The tin bot stopped mid stride, made a strange almost sad tone and toppled over.
“Our deflector is down!”
Sheng froze.
“Team take out the target!” Sheng’s order was to the point, as was the shotgun armed team members aim, blowing a hole through the HVT.
Another of the team froze, the chink of spurs came from the side of the stairwell as Wild Bill calmly walked around the corner.
In a ballet of gunfire two of the team were gunned down followed by sheng. Bill holstered his weapons, as sheng fell the Haidao behind had his breaker pistol trained on the cowboys head.
“Weell shhhiiit.” Bill Fell.
“Target eliminated Ma’am, but we have taken critical loses.”
“Message recieved, dig in and await evac trooper.”

On the left flank the Mowang moved up to secure the data. The enemy was dug in around the only console in range.
The Mowang trained his weapon on the bounty hunter in cover on the corner of the adjacent building and fired a flammenspear round. The shot incinerated the bounty hunter, caught Valerya Gromoz in the blast, killing her outright and destroying a deployed repeater.

The enemies numbers were severely diminished but bravely fought on to secure the objective, on the left flank the remaining bounty hunter in the fire team made an attempt to stop the zencha with it’s looted adhesive launcher, the Zencha had other plans and obliterated the merc with a D.E.P rocket shot. The enemy recon unit was successful and hacked his armour immobilising it. The remaing enemy troops trained their guns on the console hoping to stop the incoming assault.
The Mowang moved to the corner where the burnt remains of the bounter hunter lay, wiping out the remaining fire team member with ease. Turning his attention to the enemy zencha he shredded the skilled hacker with his Spitfire. The ghulam team on the right fired on the heavily armoured troop, bullets ricocheted off him as he retuned fire with his flamenspear killing one but miraculously two survived the inferno.
Behind the Weibing rushed forward in a final attempt to secure data and uncover the truth. The remote jacked into the console and then fell silent as bullets from the the ghulam ripped into it.
“Lieutenant this is command, package recieved. Evac on route, lets get your men home.”

Some hours later at Jiyuan Pit.
“Well done Lieutenant.”
“Just doing my job sir.”
“Indeed Lieutenant, and and a fine one too.” The commander saluted her.
“The data you recovered shows what we feared. But before we take it to the council we must hold this position, we need you for one last mission.”
“Would be my pleasure Sir.” The Lieutenant returned the salute.
