Emergency Deployment

The dropship raced across the uneven surface of the asteroid toward the location of the detected Morat activity. Cyberghost Esteban “RatTrapp” Nuñez shifted uncomfortably in his seat as Commander Smoke and Hyppolita argued in hushed voices toward the front of the vehicle. This would only be RatTrapp’s second deployment, and while he had full confidence in his commanding officers and fellow DSS members, he was less than optimistic about his own performance. He was engrossed in his own thoughts when a pop-up warning appeared on his AR display. A skull and crossbones, with the words “bang, you’re dead” emblazoned across the teeth.

“Liven up rookie” A Merovignian-accented voice warned. “You need to keep yourself ready for countermeasures, the Combined Army’s hackers are brutal”

Jean-Jacques Van Claude was the squad’s resident gangbuster, a former Chasseur and, surprisingly, one hell of a killer hacker. He tapped idly at his comlog with a wide grin on his face.

“Oh crap!” RatTrapp stammered “I- er… I know, I’m just-”

“Nerves are natural kid, just keep your head down and focus on your task and everything will be fine”

The Cyberghost sighed and cleared his AR.

“I know, I just want to do a good job. This isn’t-”

He was interrupted by the blare of alarms. The Dropship’s doors slid open with a hiss and all comms switched on simultaneously.

“Alright kids” Smoke’s voice came through “We have Morats here. These guys are tough, fast and angry. Your mission parameters are as follows: Kill everything that looks like a monkey.”

A cheer erupted from the team as they piled out. RatTrapp picked up his rifle and did the same. As his feet hit the loose gravel of the mag-mined asteroid his AR display filled with warnings and net-maps. He ran to cover, laid down and began to work.

Morats Turn 1

Daturazi warriors surged forward and laid down smoke cover for themselves. Two of the brutes headed for the central and eastern panoplies and successfully plundered them, while a third used the cover of smoke and the stealth granted to him by his prowess in martial arts to sneak up on the Gangbuster and knock him unconscious. A madtrap went off on the alien warrior along the way but he shook it off easily with his mighty physique. He then plundered the third panoply and laid himself prone, out of sight of the O-12 officers that were beginning to stir. A fourth warrior was not as lucky, and ended up immobilized by the other madtrap

O-12 Turn 1

Hyppolita led the Varangian guard forward into the fray, and while three of the Ariadnans entered the central building, dodged a grenade and laid low the Daturazi occupying it, she busied herself on attacking the one that had assaulted the Gangbuster, suffering a wound in the process. After laying down a cover of white noise, the Sirius team moved forward and eliminated a Yaogat sniper with a red fury burst. They then proceeded forward, and through a combination of the red fury and the Siriusbot’s heavy riotstopper, managed to glue two Vanguard and eliminate a Suryat, rendering the Morat link blunt and immobile, though the bot did not survive the encounter.

Morats Turn 2

The Daturazi sprung into action once more. The combat between Hyppolita and one of the aliens was lengthy, but after an intense exchange of blows she managed to lay low the Morat. On the Eastern side of the ZO another Morat covered himself in smoke, and using his superb intuition, attempted to blindly shoot the Varangians in the building, but through dodging and sheer guts they managed to survive the onslaught. At this point, their forces glued or decimated, the Morats cut their losses and retreated. (Only 2 vanguards and a Daturazi remained alive and unglued, so my opponent conceded, as it was getting late)
