Over-confidence led to the disaster on this sunless day.

Invincible Army Turn 1:

The Al Fasid and accompanying FTO Shaytaniyah REM falsely believed that, being in cover, they could take on the blunt force of the Invincible Army and if not survive the assault; at least take down some key players in the process. The first shot fired by the IA were twin missiles that were deftly dodged by a Namurr experimental operative. The second shot was a double burst of missile fire which rendered both Ramah units unconscious. The IA then carefully moved up their battle lines and before long a Zuyong HMG found an unexpected weakness in the Taskforce lines — the exposed shoulder of a Mukhtar spitfire, prone and braced against a structure. Letting loose with a hail of bullets, the Zuyong’s aim was true causing multiple wounds, ultimately killing the response unit. The Zuyong continued its approach and fired upon a second Namurr, the Ramah’s datatracker, but true to their technologically advanced speed, the Namurr jumped out of the way and into total cover.

The IA completed its first turn by taking up solid defensive positions and activating their deployment zone heater.

Ramah Taskforce Turn 1:

Devastated by the lost of its three medium to long range offensive units, it was time for damage control. The IA had a carefully placed Haidao outfitted with a multispectral visor level 2 and Multi Sniper Rifle, covering most of the battlefield. In a fireteam core, this unit had the potential to cause massive casualties to any troops that might advance to meet the IA threat. *Something* had to be done, if only the taskforce had the ability to retaliate at range.

With this in mind, a second Mukhtar soldier, a doctor plus, cautiously moved past both the Haidao and an entrenched missile launcher to revive the fallen Al Fasid. Success! Now to deal with that pesky sniper. A Ghulam NC speculatively launched a smoke grenade from his launcher to block the line of fire from the missile launcher to isolate the sniper. The shot landed but his guess on size of the smoke cloud was off and he obstructed his own view to the Haidao. Unfortunately the Fasid didn’t realize his mistake until he made his move to fire upon the sniper. Unable to see his target, the sniper opened fire and he attempted dodge to no avail and fell unconscious for the second time in a brief few moments. The doctor brought him back and the remaining units braced themselves for another volley of hellfire from the advancing IA.

Invincible Army Turn 2:

The sniper saw, yet again, the Ramah heavy infantry rise to stand on his feet. With a grimace, he let fly three rounds from his M Sniper and the grimace turned to a smile as he saw them puncture the considerable armor on the Fasid and watched the enemy trooper slump in a bloody mess. The Zuyong positioned himself atop an elevator platform and gunned down the Namurr datatracker — hyperdynamics be damned — anyone will fall to enough bullets! Now the IA HMG turned his attention to the pesky Ghulam Doc, but she dodged into total cover.

The five-link fireteam of IA heavy infantry dug their heels in and set up sector fire in the middle of the battlefield. Setting up two antipersonnel mines along the way, the fireteam’s flank was well-secured. A forward observer bot advanced up but after multiple attempts, could not work the controls on the console.

Ramah Turn 2:

The task force was running low on steam and had to make something happen. A TO Camo state Tuareg Doctor carefully moved into position along the left flank of the formidable HI link team. He knew this was a suicide mission, but if he could take down the IA LT; perhaps his battle brothers could finally advance and salvage the mission. Moving undetected past several IA units, he made his charge. Certainly heroically, he ambushed the link team…

… and his shotgun bounced off of the armor of the HI.

The Zuyong took aim in retaliation and gunned him down.

Demoralized, the remaining Ramah line infantry attempted to flee, but without ample cover and no working heaters; it was a massacre.

NOTE: I’m getting another copy of the IA army list as the one I have, the pdf will not open. To be edited later.

Nice report. It is a pity that in TTS..

  • Panacea says:

Go doc for the clutch save!

  • BishopWraith says:

That’s too bad about TTS. Azuset and I live 1,000 miles away from each other. TTS lets us play with anyone in the world and I wouldn’t have gotten into Infinity without it. It’s definitely generating customers and hype, not detracting from it.

  • Myomer says:

Rough game, better luck next time. Also, great to see some good looking games from TTS!

  • WiseKensai says:

Just a heads up, CB’s official stance is that they’re not accepting TTS battle reports. I definitely enjoyed reading yours though!

Infinity is alive and well on TTS with a good community! I’ve actually gotten into designing maps for it and if you search Youtube for VaulSC’s infinity videos, you can find a link for his discord server where we share our maps and talk about rules and games we’ve played!

I’m a new-ish player and still learning painful lessons. I put the Fasid w/ FTO bot in cover with long fire lanes knowing I was taking second turn. Neither weapon are great ARO pieces outside of a link team. He just out-shot me with a B2 +3MOD linked Missile Launcher. The Mukhtarr Red Fury being visible was a mistake, I didn’t think his base was visible where he got shot.

And crits. Azuset rolled enough dice in his active turn that he landed at least 3 crits.

Looking back, I also should have used the cover of the smoke I launched to break the ghulam link and free up the remaining Namurr to advance onto the sniper without any other units taking shots and tried to take him out that way. That would have taken off some of the pressure to be able to move my remaining units. I basically let myself lose my attack pieces and get pinned before I ever got to move.

Thanks for the report! It might be better to not test the StateEmpire in the future!

Oof, rough first game. The dice were not your friends. Was there anything you should have done differently or was this just dumb luck?
