Asteroid Blues

That night Elàlith's sleep was particularly agitated. After the clash with Yu-Jiing, the young Sukeul and her companions had sought shelter in an area hidden in the swarming gathering of lives that humans call “city”. The medications that Kumotail had administered were used to heal the wound suffered in battle, but not the one that was hidden inside her, after that creature had attacked her ship near the Daedalus Jump Gate and decimated her company. She had recognized it or so she remembered. It had the features of a Speculo Killer, so it had to be it. That night Elàlith dreamed she was in a frozen land. A strong cold wind lashed the area and there were only ice dunes in front of her. The ice had created ravines, tunnels and it was difficult to define the exact extent of the area. Suddenly, a figure took shape in the distance. It had a humanoid shape and moved almost dancing in the air.
The figure came close enough so as to be in plain view, then suddenly walked away laughing. Elalith recognized the Speculo and from wrath began to pursue her, however, a shot from a rifle hissed near her right shoulder. She noticed that the ice field was not deserted before her. Some figures lurked behind the dunes and in the tunnels. They were definitely Shasvastii in Elàlith's dreams. At that moment a voice from behind startled her.
"When you want, madam" said Kaeltar Lahisa. Elàlith noticed that behind her, his comrades in arms were lining up for the battle. A wicked smile appeared on Sukeul's face.

At the bottom of the deployment zone were hidden an Ikadron armed with 2 Light Flamethrowers (behind a large dune on the right side of the field) and next to it a Slave Drone. Nearby was a Chamo Marker. Behind one dune on the other side of the field there was another Ikadron, the Med-Tech Obsidon Medchanoid (the so-called "Doctor Verme") with a Servant. Nearby there is another Chamo Marker. More advanced were a Gwail with Heavy Rocket Launcher and Sheskiin armed with Red Fury.

On the left side of the field there was a Chacksa Auxiliar with Heavy Flamethrower and a Triad composed of a Sukeul with HMG, a Kaeltar with LSG and a Makaul with Heavy Flamethrower; in the center, The Gao-Rael sniper + Sukeul ML + Kaeltar with LSG (Lahisa); on the right, in open formation, the Kumotail, surrounded by a Kamael and a Makaul with Heavy Flamethrower, in Triad with Elàlith (Sukeul with K1 combi rifle).

Now it's targeting the Gao-Rael's Triad, but there are no losses anywhere.
Suddenly, Elàlith, who was following the battle from afar, observes a movement above her and sees the Makaul Iskandar crawling on the top of the dune in front of her, approaching. Then, she looks down and with horror notices that Iskandar is at the base of the dune and not at the top of it. She looks up and still sees Iskandar moving suspiciously. At this point she orders his neighboring companions to try a Discover action. The Tohaas succeed in their intent and the fake Iskandar turns out to be an infiltrated Speculo Killer! The assassin Shasvastii tries to attack her enemies but fails in her intent and also thanks to a smoke grenade, she disappears again on the top of the dune, putting herself ready for the next turn.

This time, the rest of the Triad positions itself to be out of reach from the alien blast. At the end of the turn, the Gwailo will have suffered an injury and Sukeul will have lost her SymbioMate and suffered a wound, thanks to a critical blow of the enemy.

The Discovery will succeed, but the Clipso will die hit by the enemy ARO with the Boarding Shotgun. At this point Elàlith and her men move close to the ice wall and thanks to a lucky positioning the Sukeul manages to engage in battle with the Speculo killer who finally dies.

On the other side of the field there is a clash again between the Gwailo and the Sukeul with HMG. In the end both will die. Meanwhile, Sheskiin advances towards the left side of her deployment zone but she is targeted by the Gao-Rael and by the Sukeul with ML. The alien commander's Nanoscreen allows her to have cover from enemy attacks and at the end of the turn she is still not injured; she approaches the left console and is well positioned to defend the nearby HVT. Meanwhile, the battle in the rest of the field rages and new Shasvastii come out of their camouflage states in the snow to advance and take the consoles, killing enemies. Among these a Noctifer unloads a missile against the Triad of the Gao-Rael and manages to wound the Sniper and the Sukeul, subsequently dying of ARO.

Sheskiin furiously advances and easily kills the Clipso and thanks to Protheion also gains an additional wound. Then, the power warrioress arrives at a charging distance from Elàlith and the clash between the two Lieutenants breaks loose! Elàlith suffers a wound just when the turn ends.

The other two members of the Triad huddle around Elàlith and this time it is precisely the Makaul who scores a series of lucky shots and kills Sheskiin. Elàlith at this point advances towards the middle field and conquers the second console. Then, she manages to locate the Designated Target, gets close and is able to kill him with her K1 Combi Rifle.

With a jolt, the Sukeul Elàlith opens her eyes and wakes up in her bed, covered in sweat. Her heart was pounding, maybe she had defeated the enemy... at least in her dreams.
