Novyy Bangkok’s Main Strip is a bloody mess, what with every human sphere nation and their third cousintaking up arms to resolve old grudges and take advantage of golden opportunities. While it wasn’t a core strategic priority, command authorised a quick reconaissance in force. A small “fact finding team” lead by the Tarik Mansuri would investigate suspicious individuals in the bowels of Novvy Bangkok, while also securing our own threatened intelligence assets. That’s when we stumbled across a surprise Tohaa incursion. Things did not turn out according to plan.
While the Ghazi Muttawiah irregulars laid down a curtain of smoke to allow Mukhtar troops to engage entrenched Tohaa marksmen, the Mukhtars dropped the ball, with their coordinated attacks having surprisingly poor effect. The attack plan was textbook, but still left both Mukhtars killed, their wetware implants splattered all over the deck.
Friendly specialists managed to creep forward and access the computer consoles that identified the enemy persons of interests, but the Tohaa forces were sufficiently entrenched that we were unable to push further.
With friendly forces on the back foot, the Tohaa commander unleashed their own bioengineered weapons, with Surda beasts plunging deep into our lines to wreak havoc. Emir Tarik Mansuri and the Ghazis attempted a forlorn hope attack, but all was for naught.
With the Emir injured and our defense lines broken, the Tohaa managed to bring in their own specialists to the data terminals, identified our own intelligence assets within the populace, and then liquidated our embedded agents before disappearing back into the tunnels of Novyy Bangkok.
TOHAA VICTORY 8-0
-Kill Designated Target 3
-Kill More Decoys 1
-More Activated Consoles 2
-Friendly Target Alive 1
-Datatracker Alive 1
Post-game thoughts:
-The Mutt smoke network and coordinated attacks on the Gao Rael sniper and that missile trooper were textbook, covering the snipers while allowing for a shot against the enemy MSV at favorable bands, but sometimes, even when you stack every modifier in your favor, the dice just hate you.
-Burned points and orders there, and with that shooting nest dug in, that ended sealing the deal for me, though it took another turn before I could get hammered off.
-Too aggro in claiming the data consoles. Wasn't able to establish board control, and just got swept off.
Excellent Game!
( ノ^.^)ノ゚Viva el Tohaa, well done brohaa commander and good luck for your future career Haqq commander
Sometimes you loose, sometimes your dice want to wreck you… Thats life! 😀
Gosh you should have seen the dice in the game afterwards — crits pretty much everywhere, but also a lot of solid saves on the Haqqislam side. The Gao-Rael’s luck swapped sides haha
Haha, yeah. TBF, the swinginess of the d20 is one of the things I low-key like about Infinity over more predictable systems, especially since we’re at the skirmish scale anyway.
“sometimes, even when you stack every modifier in your favour, the dice just hate you” – never were truer words spoken/written. One of the joys of Infinity. Well done to hang in there and keep fighting. You have achieved honour in defeat.
Nice use of the cardboard terrain.
I like your post game thoughts, but yes: Dice hate is real!
Glad you saved your good dice for our base! This loss: inconsequential.
Rough game, but you made up for it!
