Asteroid Blues

NOTA: Para esta partida recurrimos a varios proxies, principalmente en el bando de Yu Jing, ya que mi rival quería probar tropas nuevas antes de comprarlas.
NOTE: For this battle we used several proxies, mainly in for Yu Jing, as my rival wanted to try new troop profiles before buying them.

El ejército chino ganó la tirada inicial y eligió la zona de despliegue y hacerlo en segundo lugar. Sabiendo que iba a comenzar, mis tropas tomaron posiciones ofensivas, con los holoecos de Yasbir aparentando ser tres Halqa colocados cerca de la panoplia central y el Libertos Freedom Fighter (hombre pez de ahora en adelante) camuflado detrás de cobertura cubriendo la panoplia derecha mientras que una mina cubría la panoplia central.

El ejército enemigo desplegó de manera defensiva, con un Haidào en altura cubriendo dos vías de acceso, su teniente camuflado a refugio y flanqueado por un Terracota y un Mówáng.

The Chinese army won the initial roll and chose the deployment zone and to do so in second place. Knowing that I was going to begin, my troops took offensive positions, with Yasbir' holoechos pretending to be three Halqa placed near the central panoplies and the Libertos Freedom Fighter (fish-man from now on) camouflaged behind cover and protecting the right panoply while a mine covered the central one as well.

The enemy army deployed defensively, with a Haidào in high ground covering two main paths, his lieutenant camouflaged behind cover and flanked by a Terracotta and a Mówáng.

Pese a que había intentado colocar a los Ghazi de manera que su movimiento impetuoso no les expusiera demasiado, no calculé bien, y el Haidào tuvo dos ORAs gratuitas con su fusil de francotirador multi. No sirviéndoles de nada las granadas de humo humo, no me quedó más opción que esquivar, y afortunadamente uno de los dos que fueron disparados consiguió esquivar. El motorista Kum, que estaba bastante más atrás no se expuso con su movimiento impetuoso. Mi prioridad en ese momento era acabar con el Haidào, con el inconveniente de que mi rival había gastado un token de mando en reducirme las órdenes del grupo donde estaba el Azra’il, pero aun así conseguí eliminarlo tras invertir unas pocas órdenes. Con el camino despejado, los dos Ghazi supervivientes y el Kum continuaron avanzando, llegando este último a cargar al Rui Shi y dejándolo inconsciente.

En el centro, Yasbir se hizo con un fusil multi tras buscar en una panoplia, pero no caí en la cuenta de que no me quedaban más órdenes para su grupo, por lo que finalizó en una posición muy vulnerable, y solo un holoproyector para salvarle…

Although I had tried to place the Ghazi so that their impetuous movement did not expose them too much, I did not calculate well, and the enemy Haidào had two free AROs with his multi sniper rifle. With smoke grenades not being useful at all, I had no choice but to dodge, and fortunately one of the two who were shot managed to do it. The Kum biker, who was far behind did not exposed himself with his impetuous movement. My priority at that time was to killl the Haidào, with the inconvenience that my rival had spent a command token in reducing the orders of the group where the Azra’il was, but still I managed to eliminate him after investing a few orders. With the road clear, the two surviving Ghazi and the Kum continued advancing, the latter arriving to charge the Rui Shi and leaving it unconscious.

In the center, Yasbir found a multi rifle after searching in a panoply, but I did not realize that I had no more orders for his group, so he ended up in a very vulnerable position, and only a holoprojector to save him...

El contraataque chino fue brutal. En primer lugar, un Liú Xing apareció junto a Jasbir, y la explosión de su aterrizaje afectó no solo al Hassassin y a sus holoecos, sino también a los marcadores de camuflaje del hombre pez y su mina. La mina consiguió colarle una herida, y tanto Yasbir como el hombre pez esquivaron la explosión (los holoecos desaparecieron), pero el asesino se había quedado vendido en el centro del tablero y sin cobertura. Un Mówáng con Red Fury apareció de detrás de una esquina, disparando en primer lugar contra el Azra’il y obligándole a abandonar su posición de tiro y a buscar cobertura. Después, tuvo total libertad para acabar con Yasbir.

Por el otro lado del tablero, resultó que mi rival había metido también otro hombre pez, aunque debido a su escasez de CAPs, la opción que no es minador. Aun así, su subfusil acabó con el ghazi que tenía delante, cuya tenacidad no sirvió de nada. Y el Terracota con ametralladora acabó con el último ghazi que me quedaba.

The Chinese counterattack was brutal. First, a Liú Xing appeared next to Jasbir, and the explosion of his landing affected not only the Hassassin and his holoechos, but also the camouflage markers of the fishman and his mine. The mine managed to cause the Liú Xing a wound, and both Yasbir and the fishman avoided the explosion (the holoechos disappeared), but the Hassassin had been doomed, in the center of the board and without coverage. A Mówáng with Red Fury appeared from behind a corner, firing first against Azra’il and forcing him to abandon his shooting position and seek coverage. Afterwards, he had total freedom to end Yasbir off.

On the other side of the board, it turned out that my rival had also included another Libertos Freedom Fighter, although due to his lack of SWC, the profile that is not minelayer. Even so, his submachine gun killed the ghazi in front of him, whose V:dogged was of no use. Ande the Terracotta soldier with a HMGkilled the last ghazi I had left.

Viéndome por detrás en el cumplimento de los objetivos, hice entrar a mi Ragik hacker. Mi idea era desplegarlo junto al que suponía que era su teniente (un marcador de camuflaje) y bien aislarlo con algún programa de hackeo o volarle la cabeza con la escopeta. Además, en el momento en que quedara descubierto, mi Azra’il podría volver a su posición de tiro y dispararle directamente. Bueno, ése era el plan...

El aterrizaje del Ragik fue todo un éxito, justo al lado de su objetivo. Pero ahí acabó mi buena suerte. Varias órdenes después, no solo no había logrado herir al Daoying, sino que además el Azra’il había quedado cegado por la cámara de fotos de la periodista china que el Comité de Propaganda del EstadoImperio había mandado al frente. Viendo que de nuevo mi grupo 1 se había quedado sin órdenes sin haber logrado nada, gasté las órdenes que me quedaban del grupo 2 en hacer que el hombre pez matara al Liú Xing con su escopeta y posteriormente investigara en otra panoplia. Mi alegría fue total cuando en la tirada de botín obtuvo un… Pulso Flash. No dejándome desanimar y considerando que de todas formas, ya había conseguido rentabilizar los puntos invertidos en él gracias a la muerte del paracaidista chino, le hice avanzar hacia un marcador de camuflaje cercano. Poco después, su escopeta había acabado con un Guiláng escondido. Sin duda, el alienígena estaba dispuesto a demostrarme que era más eficiente que el Ragik y el Azra’il. Para finalizar, colocó una mina junto a una esquina de tal manera que afectara al Mówáng cuando se moviera.

Realizing that I was behind in the fulfillment of the objectives, I sent my Ragik hacker. My idea was to deploy him next to what I assumed was his lieutenant (a camouflage marker) and isolate him with some hacking program or blow his head with the shotgun. The landing of the Ragik was a success, right next to his objective. But there my good luck ended. Several orders later, not only had he failed to injure the Daoying, but also the Azra’il had been blinded by the camera of the Chinese journalist that the Propaganda Committee of the Empire-State had sent to the front. Seeing that once more my group 1 had run out of orders without having achieved anything, I spent the remaining orders of group 2 on having the fishman kill Liú Xing with his shotgun and then investigate in another panoply. My joy was total when in the booty roll he got a... Flash Pulse. Not letting myself lose heart and considering that in any case, I had already managed to make his best thanks to the death of the Chinese paratrooper, I made him move towards a nearby camouflage marker. Shortly after, his shotgun had killed a hidden Guiláng. Without a doubt, the alien was willing to show me that he was more efficient than both the Ragik and Azra’il. Finally, he placed a mine next to a corner in such a way that it affected a Mówáng when he moved.

El hombre pez de mi rival era ya impetuso después de matar a un Ghazi. Eso propició que saliera temerariamente de detrás de una esquina, siendo desatomizado por el Azra’il instantáneamente. La prioridad de mi rival en su segundo turno fue acabar con el Ragik que había junto a su teniente, algo que consiguió sin problema alguno. Posteriormente, su atención se dirigió hacia el Azra’il. El Mówáng fue el encargado de ello, aunque afortunadamente para mí conseguí que la mina del hombre pez le causara una herida. Tranquilo por quedarle aun otra herida y tener SIPH, el soldado del EstadoImperio abrió fuego contra el Azra’il, a quien dejó en estado inconsciente. Quedándole una única orden, mi rival dudó entre recamuflar a su teniente o colocarlo en una posición menos expuesta, y optó por lo segundo.

My opponent's fishman was already impetuous after killing a Ghazi. That made him to recklessly appear behind a corner, being instantly desatomized by my Azra’il. The priority of my rival in his second turn was to eliminate the Ragik that was next to his lieutenant, something he managed to do without any problem. Then, his attention was directed towards the Azra’il. The Mówáng was in charge of it, although fortunately for me the mine dropped by the fishman in the previous turn caused him a wound while doing it. Confidendt for having yet another wound and to also no wound incapacitation, the soldier of the Empire-State opened fire on the Azra’il, who was left unconscious. With only one order remaining, my rival hesitated between returning his lieutenant to camouflage or placing him in a less exposed position, and he chose the latter.

Haciendo cuentas, vi que lo tenía muy difícil para ganar. Había obtenido más equipo de las panoplias, pero había perdido más especialistas y posiblemente más puntos de tropas (y aunque no fuera así, en ese momento mi rival tenía mucha más capacidad ofensiva que yo para consolidar esos puntos). Mi plan pasaba por curar al Azra’il con un médico cercano, aunque solo fuera para que sus puntos no contaran para mi adversario. Pero más allá de eso no tenía un objetivo claro.

Comencé el turno activando al hombre pez, ya que en esos momentos era impetuoso. Lo gracioso era que estaba obligado a dirigirse suicidamente contra el Mówáng, pero bueno, bastante me había durado ya, y su inversión estaba más que amortizada. Sorprendentemente, consiguió colarle una herida a su rival. Quedándole todavía su orden irregular y sabiendo que no tenía nada que perder, mandé al hombre pez a continuar su marcha. En esta ocasión, y sabiendo que el Mówáng estaba en estado SIPH, decidí ir sobre seguro y usar el chain colt. Mi oponente esquivó y salvó a la infantería pesada. En ese momento me quedaban todavía 5 órdenes regulares, que pensaba invertir en el Ayyar a ver si conseguía revertir la situación, pero si hacía eso privaría al hombre pez de hacer nada más. Considerando que para mí pesaba más pasar un buen rato que ganar o empatar la partida, decidí seguir apostando por el hombre pez. Además, con las dos órdenes anteriores había ido acercándose a la terraza en el que estaba el teniente enemigo, cuerpo a tierra pero no camuflado… Una orden más hizo que el Libertos se acercara a las escaleras del edificio. Mi rival descubrió entonces mis intenciones, por lo que el Mówáng no esquivó de nuevo, sino que intentó frenar al hombre pez disparándole. El alienígena acabó por fin con su adversario (bendita escopeta). Una orden más y subió por la escalera, disparando libremente al Daoying y acabando con él. Otra orden más y, sediento de sangre, mató al Terracota, que en ese momento andaba mirando hacia otro lado. Una tropa de 10 puntos que metí como relleno y por sus minas había acabado con más de la mitad del enemigo.

Las dos órdenes que me quedaban las empleé en mover al Jenízaro Hortlak para que asegurara a un civil.

I had obtained more equipment from the panoplies, but I had lost more specialists and possibly more troop points (and even if it wasn't the case, at that time my rival had much more offensive capacity than I did to consolidate those points). My plan was to heal the Azra’il with a nearby doctor, for his points not to count toward my enemy. But beyond that I had no clear objective.

I started the turn by activating the fishman, since at that time he was impetuous. The funny thing was that he was forced to commit suicide against the Mówáng, but hey, it had lasted me a long time, and his investment was more than amortized. Surprisingly, he managed to cause a wound to his rival. Still having his irregular order left and knowing that I had nothing to lose, I sent the fishman to continue his march. On this occasion, and knowing that the Mówáng was in no wound incapacitation state, I decided to go safely and use the chain colt. My opponent dodged and saved the heavy infantryman. At that time I still had 5 regular orders, which I planned to invest in the Ayyar to see if I could reverse the situation, but if I did that it would deprive the fish man of doing anything else. Considering that it was better for me to have a good time than to win or tie the game, I decided to continue betting on the fishman. In addition, with the two previous orders he had been approaching the terrace where the enemy lieutenant was, covered but not camouflaged... One more order made the Libertos approach the stairs of the building. My rival then discovered my intentions, so the Mówáng did not dodge again, but tried to stop the fishman by shooting him. The alien finally finished his adversary off (blessed shotgun). One more order and he climbed the stairs, freely firing at the Daoying and killing him. Another order and, thirsty for blood, killed the Terracotta, which at that time was looking away. A troop of 10 points that I included merely for rounding points had finished with more than half of the enemy.

The two orders I had left were used to move the Hortlak Janissaire to secure a civilian.

Mi rival, que al igual que yo no se acaba de creer lo que acabábamos de presenciar, no pudo hacer prácticamente nada en su turno, al estar en pérdida de teniente y sin ninguna tropa ofensiva que le permitiera remontar la partida.

My rival, who like me could not believe what we had just witnessed, could not do practically anything in his turn, being in loss of lieutenant and without any offensive troops that allowed him to get back in the game.

La partida acabó finalmente 7-1 a mi favor, algo totalmente inesperado al principio del tercer turno. Nunca una miniatura había sido tan decisiva en ninguna de las partidas de Infinity que había echado con anterioridad, y estoy bien seguro de que nunca más volverá a serlo.

The game finally ended 7-1 in my favor, something totally unexpected at the beginning of the third turn. Never has a miniature been so decisive in any of the Infinity games that I had previously played, and I am also sure that none will ever be.
