Asteroid Blues

"Hannibal... why are we out here at the battery?" Senior Massacre stage whispered.

"Because the boss said this is where we're going. Besides, it'll give us a chance to get back at those Caladonian bastards for the other day." He grimmaced, still bandaged in some places under his heavy coat as they made their way down the road towards the open fields.

"Boss, I think I've got movement..." Jim, now with a shiny eye patch under that visor looked out from a nearby rooftop, covering their approach as the kaplans wandered up the far side of the way.

"Alright kids, hit let's see if we can get the drop on them this time... Massacre, no running off to hit buttons this time!" Hannibal growled as they took up positions, hunkered down behind cars and barricades, looking for their elusive targets, hoping to be the ones to spring the ambush this time.

"Ok ok, no hitting buttons... hey do you hear that? Jim up by you I heard something..." he picked up a grenade and tossed it up and over, eclipse smoke pouring out covering all but the confused brawler on the roof.

"Well if there was something up here I can't see it now you idiot! Valk... want to come on up here and check the hard way with that big ass axe of yours?"

Valkyrie grumbled, 'Fine..." she started to scale the building as Massacre tossed another cloud of shiny smoke in front of her so that she wouldn't be seen through it... but it was very, very faulty logic, because how could the enemy possibly miss the giant columbs of reflective smoke. As Massacre stood up to make sure he could get that cloud in the right spot all he heard was a distinctive whooosh. "Hey guys... y'know we're still not painted..."

"Seriously what the hell does he mean by...." that's all the bolt in the back said before the deafening boom that followed as the Caladonian on the rooftop dropped his cover and camoflague to frag them.

From out of the cloud of smoke, everyone could hear Senior Massacre say, "See, what did I tell you!" before the second missle streaked in and punched him into the concrete. Jim the brawler ran along the roof and started to rattle shots off from his sniper rifle at the Highlander on the rooftop with the missle launcher... shot after shot he drilled into him, but they all rattled off his... well musculature like rain before another missle took him and the sound of Valkyrie crying out in the smoke could also be heard.

As the eclipse smoke cleared, Valkyrie found herself face to face with a shotgun. She was hurt from the blast but not down and tried to move to bring her axe to bear... but was clearly still to stunned from catching half a rocket, the blast took her clean off of her feet and put her on the ground.

From across the courtyard the Kaplain sniper took aim as McMurder ran out into the roadway straight at him, a barreling ball of deadly sword, chainguns and teeth roaring his way. He took aim and fired... and was promptly blinded by smoke. But that wasn't the surprise, no, the surprise was the cocking of a shotgun as a beautiful woman appeared almost out of nowhere... mere feet from him. The slide racking could be heard clearly as could the sniper's body hitting the railing and slumping to the ground before Uxia rounded the corner and started trading shots with the doctor on the other side of the building. In a panicked fire Uxia took one of the doctor's shotgun blasts to the chest, knocking her down. He was almost ready to celebrate when he heard the third member of their fire team cut down by chain rifles... and then the growl of McMurder and two more chain rifles unleashed, putting him down as well before the giant furred Caladonian stalked towards poor Candy Cloud who just wanted a good story to report on that day.

Senior Massacre picked up himself up, dusted himself off and worked to get out of the line of fire from the missle launcher, "Seriously... well I'm doing better this time, because I'm primed!" He ducked behind a giant lit kiosk style sign, looking the wrong direction he missed a squad with a heavy machine gun running down the road he was just covering, towards their primary objective... and right towards Laxmee hiding behind a car, having not moved with all the terrible death flying around her, determined to at least be the last woman standing on their team. The Caladonian squad roared down the way, the paramedic in it running up and hitting buttons as the rest took cover... only then did he hear the clink and beep... beep... beep as the Crocman's mine hit the ground in front of him. He heard it priming and held very, very still, his whole squad in the danger zone.

Around the corner at Senior Massacre came the legendary William Wallace... though he didn't get to see him through the billowing smoke. He didn't actually get to see either of the 45ths with him that jumped through the smoke to try to surprise the Crocman either... a second mine dropping beside the first. Two 45ths came through the smoke, both put down by the mines placed before the heavy machine gun found and put an armor piercing round between the poor croc's eyes. A giant sword came hacking through the smoke in time to stab poor Senior Massacre and put him back to the ground in all this tummult... and Laxmee was right, she was going to be the last woman... for their squad standing. She looked behind hear at the sound of heavy breathing and growling, in time to catch McMurder's chain rifles blasting her down. Her last thought was... "What the hell did Massacre mean, primed?"

How many of them can those Caladonian bastards make die? Apparently the answer is ALL of them. Next time Braveheart, next time!
