Asteroid Blues

After the data, Lieutnant Cho´s Team had recovered at the haqqislam hanger area (see battle report „Quick peek at silk way“), it seemed, that the haqqislam operation involved the Rewater Corp watertreatment facility, located in Yu Jing territory near the Jiyuan open Pit site. Imperial Command decided, send Cho´s Team to inspect the site, especially, because the ownership structure of Rewater Corp was unclear enough to hide an intelligence operation or a criminal or the actions of a criminal organization. Due to the dangerous environmental conditions and uncertain situation , the team was reinforced by heavy infantry and fire support troopers. An, if they would find any serious evidence pointing at Haqqislam, the Yu Jing soldiers were accompanied by a warcor, to show the human sphere the righteousness of the StateEmpire and the way it would deal with its enemies.

As the Team arrived at the plant, everything seemed quite normal and quiet. Two Hsien warriors, one was designated as data Tracker, if the would find anything, checked the security office on the left site, a Shang Ji and a Zuyong Terracotta Soldier, covered by am camouflaged Guilang sniper, inspected the Generator area on the right side, while Lieutnant Cho, the warcor and a Zanshi paramedic examined a small office building at the center of the site. A Yan Huo guarded them. Nothing unusual was to see at first glance, but one of the Hsien warriors had a strange feeling in his guts and ordered the complex to be searched. His feelings proofed right, just seconds later, as the Yan Huo reported movement and the sighting of a Fanous remote.

The Yu Jing soldiers moved in positions, laying down surpressive fire to cover their advance. Two Yuan-Yuan mercenaries descended and in retourn used their smoke grenades to cover the advance of the haqqislam soldiers. The Zuyong on the outermost right flank was attacked by a Janissair heavy infantry trooper with a boarding shotgun and was forced to retreat in full cover, lightly injured.

When the smoke cleared, the Yu Jing troops on the right flank realized, that they faced not only one Jannissair, but a team of four of them, one armed with a missile launcher and one holding a HMG, accompanied by a hafza forward observer, who had just manipulated the computer console to lower the gas levels on the haqqislam side of the battlefield. Such an impressive presence of heavy enemy infantry needed more firepower, than the Shang Ji was able to provide. He tried to change position with the Yan Huo, but unfortuately wasn´t able to carry out his retreat. The Jannissair with the missile launcher found exactly the right moment to fire and the poor Sang Ji was blown into bits. Unimpressed the Yan Huo finished off the Fanous remote with a volley of his Hyper-Rapid Magnetic Cannon, then taking the place of his fallen comrade to avenge his death by sending the Jannissair with the missile launcher to the ground with another burst of the powerful weapon. The Guilang dropped out of his camo and shot the Jannissair with the HMG, sending him down as well. The Yan Huo and the Zuyong then started again to lay down an impressive amount of surpression fire to halt the enemy advance. On the other side, the Hsien data tracker moved foreward to scan a suspicious truck driver, wich turned out to be an agent of the Silk Consortium.
Again the Yuan-Yuan on the right flank throwed a smole grenade, this time to cover the Ghulam doctor´s small Nasmat bot, which tried to nurse the fallen Jannissairs. The one with the HMG was already dead, the skull pierced by the Guilang sniper´s bullet, but he was sucessful to get the Jannissair with the missile launcher back on his feet, wich was devastating for the Guilang. A last missile, fired bevor retreating from the right flank, hit the position of the sniper, killing him instantly.

The gas levels had reached an alarmingly high level, so the Zuyong used the computer console to decrease the gas levels in the Yu Jing deployment zone. While the lighte Infantry moved back into extraction positions, the heavy infantry hold their ground to cover their lighter armored comrades, holding up their surpression fire. While the Jannissairs moved to the left flank, the now lone Yuan-Yuan tried to attack the Zuyong invinceble in close combat, but was gunned down by the Yan Huo, before he could even reach his target. The othe Yuan-Yuan on the left flank met nearly the same fate, gunned down by the Hsien´s Multi Rifle. The Jannissairs tried to kill the Hsien Data Tracker too, but despite a lot of firepower from the haqqislam heavy infantries missile launcher, the Hsien managed to dodge or shrug of most of the enemies fire. Wounded, but still standing, it seemed that nothing was able to hurt the brave StateEmpire´s soldier. But the the Druze Shock Trooper, wich also was designated as Data Tracker, stepped foreward and managed to achieve a hit, that pierced right trough the Hsiens heavy armour and send him falling to the ground.

The gas levels were now so high, that the Yu Jing troopers finally were forced to leave the site of the battle, leaving behind all Data the fallen Hsien might have retrieved, leaving the day to the Haqqislam troops. For now.
