*Various noises in the background, engines, tracks on metal surfaces, muffled screams, someone talking in the distance, several shots fired in quick succession*

*People talking, barely heard above ambient noise*

Cap. Van Zant: Higgins! Hey Higgins, what are you doing?

*Unintelligible response*

Cap. Van Zant: No no no. You have to torch them, it’s the only way to be sure.

Ranger Higgins: Sir, yes, sir!

*Flame burst sound, continues for several seconds*

* More talking, clearly understandable*

Cap. Van Zant: The bastards think they can outsmart us, let’s see them survive THAT! Hah!

*Several people laugh*

*Silence*

Cap. Van Zant: Hey, who are you?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Staff Lieutenant Sidorov, sir!

Cap. Van Zant: So…What do you want?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: I was looking for you sir. We must log in a report of the operation, sir. The top brass wants to know what happened ASAP…sir.

Cap. Van Zant: Do they?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Yes sir. When command couldn’t contact you directly, they sent me personally to get a report of what happened…So, what happened sir?

Cap. Van Zant: How nice of them to worry. Well…guess I got the comms smashed when I was trying to axe that alien monstrosity. The bastard almost got me that time… Wait, are you taping this?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Yes sir.

Cap. Van Zant: Right. What was I saying…Ah yes! The bastard almost got me that time. Luckily, he got distracted by something else and I managed to make myself scarce. He did leave with an awkward walk and some oily stuff pouring out of his belly though, heh heh, I reckon that after several axe blows, even that big bastard felt the pain, Hah! Anyway, you can tell the brass that the area is secured, and the hostiles were eliminated. Veni Vidi Vici as them Rome boys would say it. Is that good enough then?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Errrr… I’m sure command would like to get a more detailed report than that that, sir.

Cap. Van Zant: Well, the command can suck it! I must take care of the clean-up and make sure our injured get the proper treatment. Then I have to go and sort the mess at the Xaraks gun batteries. I can’t be in all places at the same time you know…

Staff Lt. Sidorov: But…Sir?

Cap. Van Zant: What?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: The High Command, sir, they need to know what happened.

*Silence*

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Sir?

*Silence*

Cap. Van Zant: Huey!

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Uuuummm…I don’t…

Cap. Van Zant: HUEY! Get up here, NOW!

*Silence*

*Someone running*

Sergeant Huey: Sir?

Cap. Van Zant: Huey, this here lieutenant Sidorov wants to get a “detailed” report of what happened here. And you’re gonna’ give it. Take your time and don’t hurry. Got it?

Sergeant Huey: Sir…I?

Cap. Van Zant: No “I’s” Huey, just give the report and get back. Did you get that?

Sergeant Huey: Sir, yes sir!

Cap. Van Zant: Good. Well, I’m off then. Send my regards to High command…Lieutenant.

*Sounds of walking*

Staff Lt. Sidorov: What did you say Sergeant?

Sergeant Huey: Errr…nothing sir. Just thinking about what happened…

Staff Lt. Sidorov: I thought I heard something about “damn paper pushers”

Sergeant Huey: Nothing like that sir, just clearing my throat for a moment.

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Right…

*Silence*

Sergeant Huey: Right…the report! Let’s get it over with.

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Yes… let’s.

Sergeant Huey: Ahem, so, we arrived with guns locked and loaded cause we heard there were some unknown hostiles lurking in the area. We barely had time to deploy when the alien scum pounced and started to pick us up one by one. Them biker boys got cut down almost immediately. Luckily, we had some good lads providing covering fire and they sniped a couple of them swasties…

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Shasvastii.

Sergeant Huey: Sorry sir?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: They’re called Shasvastii.

Sergeant Huey: Right. Swasties.. That’s what I said…

*audible groan*

*Silence*

Sergeant Huey: Ahem…then the Cap’n and his air boys appeared out of nowhere on the…err…” enemies’” flank and proceeded to chop them up real good. Unfortunately, they got one of them hard to hit big buggers with lots of guns, a Sphinx or whatever the hell they’re called, which silenced our air boys in short order. He even hunted the Cap’n for a while before deciding to try for something easier.
But the Cap’n wouldn’t have any of it so he sneaked up on the Sphinx and fought it in close quarters. Even managed to score a few hits that left the bugger looking even worse than when he started, heh!
Then one of the others saw the Cap’n go down and before we know it the Sphinx was right back at kicking our assess. I have no idea how the Cap’n got out of that scuffle with barely a scratch, but I guess that’s just another one to chalk up to the legend of Van Zant…
Anyway, one of our boys managed to flame the big bastard, which went down in a crispy pile, and thus allowed us to clear away the remaining …err… “enemies’ ” and secure the area. We had quite a few casualties but, thanks to our Doc, most of the boys will make it …
And here we are.

*Silence*

Staff Lt. Sidorov: That’s it? I’m sure you can get into more detail than that.

*Silence*

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Sergeant?

Sergeant Huey: Errrr…. Wait a second…What’s that?

Staff Lt. Sidorov: What’s what?

Sergeant Huey: It’s my men, they say they need me urgently! Terribly sorry sir, but I have to leave…

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Wait!

Sergeant Huey: Take care getting out of the Outpost, there may be some of them swasties round here hiding, they’re really good at that!

*Sounds of walking*

Staff Lt. Sidorov: They’re called Shasvastii! And we’re not done here sergeant! Get back!

Sergeant Huey: Right sir! Swasties, sir! Take care, sir!

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Sergeant?!!

*Weak sounds of walking*

*Silence*

Staff Lt. Sidorov: Unbelievable! How am I supposed to… damn Van Zant! And damn these arrogant gunslinging primitives! Now I suppose I have to…

USARF deployment - The desperadoes in the upper left corner would be the first to go down. The defensive link team would prove to be a hard nut to crack by the enemy (even without the benefit of cover) with 2 of the sniper grunts brought back from unconsciousness twice by the 112 hidden right behind them. The link team also managed to discover and kill the speculo killer and shaved off a wound of the annoying Gwailo with HMG. The camo markers are hardcases and FO foxtrots which did OK in getting me the classified objective (the scanning of a building in enemy deployment area) and killed a couple of enemy drones in the second turn.
View from the shasvastii side after deployment. The Gwailo with the drones in the middle will give me a big headache by engaging and killing my grunt + minuteman link (thank you 112 for reviving 2 of the grunts :) ). In the second turn he will get offed by a bad roll following the hull breach effects (damage 13 after a 20 roll when shooting at my guys). The Nox on the right will be killed by the airborne rangers in the second turn (the camo marker is a mine. I will find out about it in an unpleasant way). There was also the camoed speculo somewhere on the right side as well, but the containers hide it. P.S: The dude to the right was just chilin' while we battled it out. Such a nice chap ;)
VanZant brings an axe to the head of the Nox on the left side. Surprise mothaf**ka'!
Airborne ranger after killing the Nox on the right. The second ranger got killed by the mine camo marker . :(
The Sphinx attempts to kill Van Zant, but he dodges everytime . Nailbiter moment for me. After this the sphinx movesaway from Van Zant to engage some of my other models. VZ's AP rifle can't touch him due to TO :(
Seeing that he couldn't finish off Van Zant, the sphinx proceeds to kill several of my other models (a grunt, foxtrot and minuteman) and moves away to the position in the picture. A pissed off Van Zant stealth engages it in CC and manages to inflict a STR damage before succumbing to the sphinx explo CC weapon. After this we forgot to make any pictures but what happens is that the sphinx comes to my right side to engage and kill my remaining troopers on that side. After a few bad shooting rolls from him he attempts to CC my last remaining grunt who dies but not before using his heavy flamer to shave off it's remaining STR. With the Sphinx and most of the shasvastii off the table, it was easy for me to do the classified obj. and win by dominating the quadrants.
