Asteroid Blues

This is going to be a quick report because the game was relatively uneventful.

Teams: Caledonia VS Tohaa
Mission: Frostbyte

I (Tohaa player) won the Lt roll and had Caledonia deploy first and he took first turn.
My plan was to have my heavy infantry survive to the end and win with army points, have the Draal create chaos with his extra movment from the special mission rules and maybe have my Kiiutan take out his datetracker.

Caledonia Turn 1: After an uneventful impetuous phase he moves on to take out my main ARO unit, having passed the infiltration PH roll with McNeill he tried to take out my chaksa HMG by using surprise shot in the HMG bad range to which my HMG crits on a 2. next he uses the Highlander grey AP HMG in a fireteam to take out my chaksa, after 4 orders and 2 crit ties chaksa goes down. Running out of orders in the main pool he moves McMurrough to the middle of the board with no cover whatsoever. The second combat group spent most of it’s orders on a S.A.S. FO pushing buttons and turning on both his heaters and the remaining orders moving Wallace and the Wulvers up into the dead zone.

Tohaa Turn 1: after a few orders sent trying to kill McMurrough with numerous units including a Makaul in CC and only managing to deal one wound. I changed my focus to setting up a defensive line setting up two Dazers with the Draal’s 8-2 movement and putting my HI and the Draal into suppressive fire.

Caledonia Turn 2: McMurrough gets some smoke cover from a near by impetuous troop and then tosses another smoke himself to forge a path through the suppressive fire and destroys the forward heater. The Wulver team spends a ton of orders trying to take out Neema in SF through the Dazer saturation zone but only manages take a symbiomate and one wound using a Mk.12. Neema made a boat load of armor saves I lost count of how many, those who have read my last report will know this was armor save karma for the USA grunt that would not die. McMurrough takes out a Dazer and wounds the Draal with an intuitive attack and then takes out a Kaeltar and Neema in CC but dies to Neema’s viral pistol when using Berserk. McMurrough killed enough people in CC to get the extra point from predator.

Tohaa Turn 2: Very low on orders I move my Data tracker Kiel-Saan with regeneration up into the dead zone and behind a wall on the opposite side of the board from the Wulvers and reposition a few troops to deal with the next impetuous phase.

Caledonia Turn 3: the fire team core moves toword the Kiel-Saan and removes it from the board after spending most of the orders in that pool. The Wulvers and Wallace take out the last Makaul and the Draal as the 112 motorized data tracker moves into the dead zone and dismounts to hind under the tower that my Kiiutan is atop.

Tohaa Turn 3: With two orders we see only one way I can score any points , have my Kittan ASSASSINS’S CREED dive off the tower, tank the armor save of 20 damage and kill the 112 doctor in one try. So I took the leap of faith but gravity had other plans, I failed both armor saves and that was game.

Final Score: Caledonia wins 10-0 with 135 points remaining
Tohaa had 45 points remaining.
