The website is really slow. If this is slow in posting, you know why.

I appear to have posted this battle twice, by accident due to lag.

This version is the real one.

This was a very short game, and so expect a short batrep.

But, Absolute PowerPoint Corrupts Absolutely: folks liked the PowerPoint last time, and, since I took no pics, I've made one for this one.

Setup - PowerPoint style. Ikari Company / Nomads markers represent troops that didn't end up mattering much.

"I've got eyes on 'em, boss: renta-cops, like you said. Probably working for that asshole on the Strip. Let's give them a taste of the Morats."
- Angelspit, PFC of Riot GRRLs. Confirmed kill of Joe "Scarface" Turner

Ikari Turn 1

**Ikari Company Turn 1: ** Before setup, the Ninja attempts an infiltrate roll and fails. This is a rules error – you can’t infiltrate due to the Exclusion Zone – but, out of the gate, the dice aren’t on Ikari’s side.

Next, a Yuan Yuan attempts to combat jump. See that spot where the cheerleaders are? He’s about to sick Chain Rifle into them. But, again, luck is not on Ikari’s side, and Yuan Yuan fails the Combat Jump and scatters off the table.

The Karakuri pushes forward next, killing a Morlock and tagging two antennas, but the Morlock manages to throw smoke behind me that covers the Intruder Sniper – a good thing, considering that was his whole purpose.

That attack vector is shut down and the group out of orders, so Scarface advances down the middle. He gets eyes on a Riot GRRL, camo’ed Heckler, and alguacil all at once. Bad news for him, he’s just barely within range of the E/Marat’s template. Worse news for him, Scarface fails the BTS roll – due to that +1 damage from the mission. Adding insult to injury (isn’t that what Hecklers do?), the Heckler passes *both* armor saves, and falls prone.

It’s time for Cordelia to fix up her brother, but the Yaozao that’s supposed to do that gets sniped, through the smoke, by the Intruder. Cordelia makes the run, but fails the WIP roll twice, so, in the end, it costs Ikari all seven of his remaining orders to get Scarface back in action. I’m honestly not sure it was worth it.

Nomad Turn 1

Krakots alone deliver justice to these interlopers.

**Nomad Turn 1:** Both Krakots go impetuous, and both sink two chain rifles into targets. Ikari fails all four armor saves, two on Scarface and two on the Karakuri, which goes dogged. The morlocks throw smoke, covering the Intruder.

The Intruder tries to snipe the Karakuri, but the Karakuri crits (on a 1 – but with B3 from Suppressive Fire) and Intruder goes down. The Daktari fixes him up, but I can’t get through Total Immunity and kill the Sierra instead.

With my remaining orders, the Riot GRRL hunts down Scarface and Cordelia. I’m about to use my Alguacil FO to claim some antennas, but this was supposed to be a quick game and Ikari is pretty much crippled. Scarface, Sierra, and Cordelia are all dead, ninja and yuan yuan are in stupid position, and Karakuri is Dogged and thus about to die. Ikari surrenders.

We call the game early, with a Nomad victory. Objective points assume that I’ll have more antennas, which seems pretty safe.

Ending Comments

It feels little premature to end after just one turn, especially when both sides still had a lot of troops.

But, in addition to timing, Ikari had suffered atrocious luck and lost a lot of really good pieces. Getting bad luck is part of the game, but there's a point where I'm happy to say "This game is done - let's have fun doing something else" instead of grinding out a nearly-inevitable outcome.

So, we ended without playing out the full mission. I hope you understand.
