Asteroid Blues

For fifteen seconds, one small slice of the Nomad Gorge had been Hell. Now, as abruptly as it had started, it was seemingly over - but for the crackle of fire, the occasional chime of falling bits of glass, and the soft drip of blood.

Only four, his escort had said. Four people, almost certainly a small probing attack with remotes, easily sent on its way. Now, one of those four strode slowly, leisurely out of the smoke. It was a hulking brute, soaked in gore, seemingly unfased by the sparking hole in his armour.

'Mr Lebedev?' Achilles said, with an utterly un-reassuring smile. 'O-12 has been wanting to speak with you for a long time now...'

In this campaign, I've been doing a bit of experimenting with having larger numbers of cheaper models out, as opposed to just swinging around Achilles and Atalanta like wrecking balls. But for a late night wind-down-after-work game, I figured I'd go back to what's most comfortable for me.

Turns out thepoorman was figuring I'd figure doing something else.

Doctor Shotgun died at the beginning of my turn, though Penthesilea, as is her wont, got shot in the process. She elected to have a lie-down rather than going NWI, since Hypatia the sophotect was like right there. Hypatia got her back upright, and the rest of my turn was her meandering over to an objective for a TACOS point.

She was then immediately killed by Wild Bill.

Alas, their fireteam was set and ready to waste anyone trying to get in close in a storm of fire. Alas, Achilles had a machine gun. Their last turn was spent with the survivors running for cover, and Doctor Uzi scoring more objective points by running around and breaking my Netrods.

We were tied for points and I was low on orders going into the last round. Penny shot the last Khawarij that had line of sight over the HVT - making this a -very- odd game, in that she survived! - and Achilles sidled over for a tiebreaking point.
