Asteroid Blues

During the few weeks of war on Novyy Bangkok his men took part in heavy combat against very strong and experinced enemy, suffered heavy losses and achieved victory in every mission trusted to them by the command. This deployment went much better than the previous one on Oasis-16. Romiras was proud of his men. True — they barely made it in the last battle. But they’ve made it. High command decided that his unit earned some rest. They were assigned to defense of Pakngein Nbis business-administrative sector of the spaceport once more. This time this area was considered to be secure, as the battles raged in other parts of the asteroid. Of course Romiras was husam. He knew the war was all over the barren rock and no place was truly save. He expected the worst. So when unidentifiable combatants (suspiciously similar to Aleph operatives) attacked the sector he and his men were ready. Again. Always.

Initiative.
I won the initiative and chose to go first. My opponent chose the deployment zone and let me deploy first. He spent a command token and removed two orders out of my ten from my first group.

Round 1.
Qapu Khalqi.
Yuan yuans went out. One failed her jump and came out of the corner on my left flank. One jumped right near dakini bots link with deva but got stunned by a warcor (did I ever say that these are true gods of war?) The last one jumped right behind the backs of dakini paramedic and lamedh bot. He made short work of them both with his chain rifle. My djanbazan haris proceed to enter the large building on my left flank and shock marksman shot down dakini sniper posed for ARO. Also one of djanbazans completed a “Follow-up” and “Net-Undermine” classify. TRbot killed an enemy warcor (remember: she was an agent of terrorists who attacked civilian target!). Yuan yuan in my deployment ran forward and got rid of the netrod. One of my fanouses ran closer to enemy HVT and placed a sniffer, which allowed me to complete an “Identity Check” classify. Meanwhile my janissaries moved forward. As the one with the missile launcher was approaching a wall, an enemy proxy appeared out of nowhere (TO) and declared an Oblivion hacking attack against my janissary. Too bad (for Aleph) that my soldier was hafza!

Bar fighter yuan yuan entered the scene and tried to chain rifle mine yuan yuan. But mine yuan yuan was able to dodge closer to link hidden behind the building. Proxy Hacker shot at my janissary HMG with a shotgun, while moving away from him. She missed but janissary pistol hit true. NWI hacker ran into the house. There she completed “Net-undermine” and “Espionage” objective (because my HVT was conveniently placed right behind the wall of the building she ran into). After that the despised hacker returned to shoot at janissary but got herself killed by that righteous warrior of good. Dasyu hacker than appeared out of nowhere (TO too!) near the building with djanbazans. She crawled near my fanous and used its repeater to breach my network and kill my EVO (nooooo). After that she entered the building with djanbazans. She was put down like the rabid dog she is, but not before she killed my shockmarksman djanbazan and hafza… my lieutenant hafza (NOOOOO). Yudbot ran to repair the bots, but got shot by HRL on its way. He successfully dodged. Also deva and two dakinis got hit. But. Only one bot did not made its dodge/armor saves. WTF (and no I’m not talking about taekwondo here). By the way yudbot repaired that dakini who was hit by HRL. Danavas stood up and killed my yuan yuan removing the threat to link.

Round 2.
Qapu Khalqi.
I started in Loss of Lieutenant. LOL. My yuan yuan hiding near broken bots ran forward and got himself killed. I spent my rafik’s own order and 3 command token and orders of other guys to ran towards my opponents deployment zone. On my way I made short work of my opponent dakini bot with combi standing for ARO. After that I managed execute “Mapping” objective. My hafza in the house went to suppress fire. My other guys moved around to cover as many approaches as possible.

Enemy yuan yuan ran past his dakini friends and caught another hit from HRL. He and dakini with grenade launcher were gone in a huge “BOOM”. Yudbot fixed dakini paramedic. That vile machine attacked my pieceful rafik and destroyed it! What’s more it proceed to execute “Nanoespionage” with my bot remnants! Kiranbot moved forward and burned one of my fanouses and HRL hafza.

Round 3.
Qapu Khalqi.
Janissary doctor destroyed kiranbot and spent all remaining orders trying to shotgun enemy Arjuna. He failed. But that didn’t matter much already.

My opponent saw no way to win. So he focused on repairing some of his bots and killing my janissary doctor. He was successful. In these goals.

That was it. His last battle in this campaign was over. Spaceport stood secure. Haqqislam achieved its goals and was reassigning its forces to other tasks (hunting runaway shasvastii ships among them). His unit was one of the first to leave Novyy Bangkok. Romiras watched the cursed rock getting smaller on the screen of his cabin onboard Qapu Khalqi ship taking him and his men to another war. Fallen friends, bitter fighting, glorious victories -- all those moments -- will be lost. Like tears in rain. Yet Haqqislam endures and so does the hope for the better future of humanity.
