Preamble: MY opponent J and I both belong to a gaming group here in Edmonton,Alberta, Canada called the Edmonton Dice League. This League dips many of it’s toes into different game systems, J and I of course belong to the subsection for Infinity.

J and I scheduled our game on a Sunday at a Local venue called ‘Wizards’, they specialize in comic books and cards but have recently begun to put more emphasis on tabletop games like 40k,AoS and D&D. I called a few days early to make sure that we could get a spot to play, they told me (Randad) that Sundays are usually filled with card games but they said they could “squeeze us in” which they literally did as we were playing on a 48″x 40″ table. This setup was our fault as their War-gaming days are Saturday and we were intruding into MtG time.Beggars/Chooser.JPEG

Mission Assignment: Countermeasures, our lord, savior and WarCor assigned us to play this wonderful scenario. I brought along the usual shopping list of mandatory specialists, as seen in my list, J. brought everything with the exception of a hacker, because, well he was playing TAK so who wants to bring a Wardriver along when you can throw an objective away.

I’d also like to apologize for the lack of ‘good photos’ your mind forgets these things when the games get this close.

Setup: I rolled a 12 for Initiative while J rolled a homerun 17, allowing me to choose first turn while J chose deployment and had me set up first. Since we lacked 8″ of table space we set up in 8″ deployment zones. J. had me take the board edge with the shanty shack, log stacks and white trailer while he setup in the Wildfire Tower and Halo/Hornet corner. I deployed most of my units above ground level, taking SICK vantage points with my Brawler Sniper and TR HMG bot aided by a Clockmaker tucked away.

J. of course deployed mostly everything in camo, apart from a 5 man link in the Wildfire tower, an Irmandinho, 112, a baggage bot and a Handler (which made me VERY suspicious of the larger objective markers).

My hold out was an Uberfallkommando squad while his was a Vet Kazak HMG.

Our Data trackers were Kriza Boracs and the Vet Kazak.

J. Nullifies 2 orders form my first combat group.

R Turn 1:My Uberfall go bananas and run up the right side of the board towards his Irmandinho, throwing an Eclipse grenade uptop of the HMG bot so that it can scuttle later on. They make it past half, prepping for the onslaught of larger camo tokens in the second turn. The HMG bot is actually slightly outside of the smoke ring thrown down by the Uberfall so it sits there gently beep-booping. LAxemee activates from her prone position in the backfield and begins to spec-fire pitchers onto the wildfire tower. On the second attempt the pitcher sticks, she uses that repeater to spotlight the Sniper in the linkteam that has view of almost the entire board. On the second attempt she succeeds and the SM bot proceeds to strike the sniper with Guided ammo. He manages to tank both hits. Kriza scuttles a few inches to attempt to pick out another sniper from the link using his Mk12, both soldiers whiff their rolls. Kriza lands a single hit on a 2 while the Line Kazak hits once on a 3. Oof. Kriza tanks the save.

J turn 1: The Irmandinho is let loose on the world running straight towards the Uberfall, throwing an individiual smoke then walking into it. J uses the next handful of orders to try and dislodge my Uberfall from their wall near the white tower, picking off an Pupper or two ev ery few chain rifle shots with an odd intuitive shot here and there. The Kommando herself is currently SWIMMING in eclipse grenade markers. The larger doggos, I mean camo markers head along J’s board edge. Batard trundles up before the cloaked Antipode pack to engage my remaining pupnik with the second half of an order, no slapsies are issued. On the other half of the board the DT Vet Kazak moves up through smoke from the spec firing controller to score Undermine and for 2 points. The handler moves to the edge to get a better view of the left side of the table. The Link team sniper drops my TR bot into the first level of sleepy time.

R Turn 2: The Uberfall finally engages in her rage, moving into base contact with Betard, hitting twice on 2 and 4 but is then blitz by a hammer and a chain rifle hit. Bweh. My cube Jager steps off the board edge right behind the Irmandino with precious centimeters to spare from the exclusion zone. She is able to drop the Irmandinho into unconsciousness and Coup De Gras before taking two thrown trench hammers to the face, scoring me a point. My Clockmaker scooties her booty and completes Retro-Engineering then actually repairs her TR friend to full health. Laxemee and her SM bot work together to obliterate the Frontnik Sniper. A zero on the left flank reveals himself from marker state to Forward Observe the Handler, he is then knocked into unconsciousness but a camo marker that was in fact a Spetsnaz. The Spotlight goes off however and the SM bot kills both the handler the 112 and an empty ambush marker. Kriza moves up out of cover for some stupid reason and loses a gun fight with the Vet Kazak, he is unconscious and my Bolt becomes the LT. Luckily enough he has made himself a bed of drop bears so no one can sneak up on him.

J Turn 2, the dogs are on the loose. J is able to use my inert pupniks to score some points with Extremis Recovery. Batard and the other three dogs rung along the right taking two causalities. (They are also fine because they passed the -3 WIP roll from the death of the Handler). The TR Bot, Mule Bot and Brawler are able to keep most of the dogs at bay until the last one reveals itself and bonks the TR bot back to sleepy time mode. The Vet Kazak is able to sneak up on the left and score Kidnapping on the sleepy Kriza.

R Turn 3, In hindsight this actually didn’t count but Laxemee uses Datascan through a repeater to score Datascan (which is a reading comprehension error on our part). she then fires a Pitcher to the right to score Telemetry and Designation on an HVT and a member of the now disassembled Kazak link..

J Turn 3, a Camo Marker uses most of the orders to sneak up through the red buildings and place a D Charge, revealing itself to be Jude Law! I mean Vassily! WE go to call it a game but J stops to say “I need to remove some of your army points to really make you hurt”, he then attempts to spec-fire a Line Kazak grenade launcher, failing to hit twice.

End Game: Learned a lot, like making Laxemee a data tracker if she’s safe, and using smoke/ Eclipse grenades with Kriza so he can scoot up the edge. I really love the list I built and might even take it to Carbonite (our big event here in February).
