Asteroid Blues

Sheila the Riot Grrl stood on a rooftop on lookout duty. She was pissed off about this assignment because she despised the criminal overlords of Tunguska and hated the fact that she had to protect their bank with their dirty money. Of course, even the free-thinkers of Bakunin needed some money, so they had made the pact with the Tunguskan crime lords. That’s why Sheila was on that rooftop, as much as she raged on against that task.

The only mitigating factor was that it was the state capitalist Yu Jing empire who were attacking the Nomad facilities. Sheila hoped she would get to kill off some lackeys of this authoritarian so-called communist regime. Sheila spotted some activity and shouldered her missile Launcher.

Indeed, those were Yu Jing line troopers scurrying in the streets below. She fired off a missile at one of them, but somehow the chinese trooper survived the rocket. Talk about shooting at sparrows with cannons. May not work. Sheila heard the Reaktion Bot fire off from the other rooftop and checked the damage caused. Somehow the other trooper had survived the auto burst! Fortunately, those idiots moved again and Sheila scored her first kill, while the Reaktion bot wounded the YJ Forward Observer unsuccessfuly trying to hack the right console.

Then there was a big noise. Terror struck Sheila as she saw a huge TAG in the distance, hiding behind a building. She took aim, fired her missile as the TAGs gigantic HMG took aim at her. Sheila hit first, but the snti tank missile did no damage, almost bounced off the TAGs thick armour. The TAG advanced into the open, Sheila hit the mark as well as the Reaktion Bot that now also had view on the TAG. Sheila’s aim was spot on this time, the Bot hit as well. The mighty Tag was rendered into a heap of scrap metal.

Sheila loaded yet another missile into the launcher and looked out for more enemy. She spotted a YJ Total Reaction bot at a far distance, this model was only armed with a combi rifle. It took Sheila two missiles to destroy the bot. Pussycat, Pussycat, Kill Kill Kill! The Riot Grrl was having a field day. So many kills of wannabe communists in one day! Sheila checked whether the vid camera on her missile launcher has caught all the action so she could show this to the other members of her punkrock band. Yeah, all those betrayers of the true revolution were stored on the device to have been blown to bits. The critical hit on the TAG made Sheila especially proud. But back to the battle, maybe there were more enemy lurking.

Then there was another little thing somewhere near the objective… what could that be? Sheila spied through the telescope of her weapon and realised that a black clad woman armed with a bow was sneaking towards the objective console. The rocket fired off, but failed to hit.

The Reverend Healer snuck towards the other building, hugging cover as she turned her head around the corner, spotting the ninja. She opened fire with her boarding shotgun and killed the strange enemy. The way was clear for the Zero Hacker to go out and put the code into the console.

The Taskmaster moved towards the Central building and placed his Koalas into position to kill anyone inside the building. Unfortunately, some little engineering bot confused the koala. the koala jumped towards it and even missed it.

On the other side of the battlefield were some complications. A Chinese doctor had accupunctured the FO downed by the Reaktion bot back to life. In return, he got accupunctured to death by the Stempler Zond. The Zero hiding inside the building next to the console surprised the healed FO and killed him. Then he also entered the code into the right console to secure the part of the office district assigned for the Bakunin team to protect.

A Yu Jing Forward observer who had entered the Central room got killed by the second koala as he failed to hack the central console.

The Zero who had secured the console on the left got a bit overconfident as he realised that his comrades were slaughtering the enemy. He snuck into the Zentral room and put the code in. He should have been more careful, because Sun Tze, who had been covering the area inside the room with suppression fire, spotted him and the Zero died as he entered the code. A noble, but surely unnecessary sacrifice to the Nomad cause. The Taskmaster or the team led by Kassandra Kusanagi (seriously bored and frustrated at that moment due to lack of action) could have dealt with the Chinese Master Stratego.

Sun Tze realised that his troops had been slaughtered and he was left with only an engineer. There was little to be gained by fighting on, so he wisely turned away from the scene of his miserable defeat.
