Flash news from the front, 9 US Ariadnan Rangers were assaulted while on a humanitarian mission. Following reports of another case of the ‘off world flu’ from local resident “Wild” Bill Varnes, a detachment of rangers were dispatched to escort a convey containing vaccines and relief workers, and medical supplies.

While nearing the destination the convoy was assaulted. While the relief workers were unharmed and the supplies remained intact, the escorts came under heavy fire while they bravely lured their ambushers to the near by communication station.

Rosalind Munroe lead ‘Rail’ and ‘Dino’ from the 7th Newport battalion into position and organized her compatriots into position on the regolith and time seemed to slow to a crawl…

I decided to deploy covering the left flank with my link team (Rosie, Wild Bill, and a Minuteman with AP HMG backed by two grunt snipers) and supported with my Boarding shot gun Foxtrot while my data tracker, Forward Observer Foxtrot and Maverick covered my right flank.

After the first turn (above video if you're interested), I had 4 units and a bad outlook on the remainder of the scenario.

Turn two left me with 6 orders( 4 regular, 1 irregular, 1 LT order). I recovered from his wave of Muttawi'ahs and a surprise Sekban using AD Infiltration (thanks to the special rules about Zero G training in this scenario) appearing behind my late fireteam.

My Maverick moved impetuously into fire and split her rocket launcher burst to get flash pulsed by a Fanous and cause no lasting effect against the Sekban.

Wild Bill appeared for his first shot! Lining up his dual multipistols and using his superior marksmanship and taking advantage of cover while negating his enemy's cover he..... rolled two 19's, lost the face to face, and had to use NWI. He was luckier on the next roll and was able to remove the Sekban on his second order, then move into contact with the objective with my third regular order.

My Lieutenant & data tracker moved towards the Tech Coffin, and my final regular order was coordinated to finish moving my team into position to maximize scoring.

Despite my heavy losses, my opponent (and cameraman) was finding himself very short on regular orders and wasn't able to take advantage of his initial gains. Face to Face rolls went my way and I maintained my positions on the objectives.

Final recap, I preserved my remaining 4 units into turn 3 and was able to put him in to retreat, preventing his Fiday (character Al-Djabel) from smoking the objective, walking into contact with it and using his CC to control the point. This lead to a 10-0 victory on my part, as I was able to send unopposed shots into the character on his third turn to prevent his data tracker from contesting the tech coffin.

The beeping of the heart monitor was her first sensation, followed by the cotton like dry mouth she felt. As she opened her eyes she saw Rail's smiling and bruised face. She drank the offered water through a straw. As her eyes got used to bring open again she saw Dino was sitting up on the next bed in the hastily erected field hospital, his arm in a sling.

Rail set a jar with metal tinkling on the table next to Rosie, saying "I thought you might want to keep this, the doc managed to get this out of your arms and neck."

"Bill lead us into a trap, didn't he?"
Rail shook his head, "That's what we thought as well, but took out the worst of them and got shot up about as bad as you did, then he held onto that comms gear you aligned for us while the LT called for medicav. If it wasn't for him you might have bled out."

Rosie saw something other than concern in his eyes and asked what else they weren't telling her.

"It's a good thing we were escorting a doctor and medical supplies, our convoy was able to respond quick enough to save everybody, but we got word from command that there's another force enroute to us. Bill's riding shotgun on Jen's bike to take some supplies up and finish our original mission, and command was able to get us a Blackjack to hold this comm link."

"A Blackjack?! I thought this was the middle of nowhere, how'd this suddenly get so important?"

Rail's serious expression wasn't softened by the grin he gave Rosie, "looks like orders from O-12, and probably had something to do with our ambush."

"You don't think they caused the outbreak that Bill reported, do you?"
