Asteroid Blues

When the crisis broke out at Novyy Bangkok, the nations of the Human Sphere selected their best and brightest and sent them to the front lines. These men and woman were trained in the combat and strategy at the best academies,and were truely experts in their field.

There was just one challenge they weren't prepare for: an over zealous stickler for rules and regulations who had been posted to the far edge of the universe months earlier, in order to limit the damage he could do.

"Kappa 010 do you copy over," buzzed Kiwi's radio. He reached to his belt and fumbled the radio, which hit the ground hard.

"O12 command, this is Kappa 010, over." Kiwi replied, slightly distracted by the cracks which laced the glass screen of his radio.

" expect movement on your area ...ad force is cleared to pass through ", Kiwi frowned, the fall had clearly caused more than superficial damage to his radio.

"I didn't catch that, can you repeat?"

" authorise force of scrowmadsh to pass through your area, en route to intercept combined army forces.“

“Copy that, over and out."

Kiwi called out to his team. "Be on the alert for potential combined army forces. We are authorisrd to let a scrowmadsh unit through. Nobody else passes."

"Are you sure they said scrowmadsh?" asked Gamma 519. "there is a Nomad force entering the area requesting authorisation to pass. Could they mean them?"

"You may be right," Kiwi responded. "I'll lodge form AZ419-3b to request clarification. We should know in 2-3 months. Ask the Nomads to hold their position."

"Kiwi, the Nomads are ignoring the instructions to hold their position. They're saying they're on an urgent mission and requested access immediately."

"Episilon 301, give them a warning shot."

From the top of a nearby building a loud crack rang out, and a short distance away a Nomad remote exploded.

"Episilon 301, I said a warning shot!“

“That was a warning, it was just a remote. Nobody has been hurt."

"These are Nomads, Episilon 301. That thing is like family to them. You would've been better to have shot one if the Reverends!"

Kiwi saw the shadows of the Nomads advance. "Secure the area! This is going to get messy!"

The Gangbuster advanced to the armory. "I'll make sure the supplies and ammunition are secure."

The Gangbuster pressed a few buttons on a panel by the door and all four doors flew open. "Balls!" he called out, "um... The Nomads must have.. Um... hacked the room... Yes, that's what happened....I totally didn't press the wrong thing."

"You can write me a report when this is over." Kiwi replied, "Let's just focus on securing the room."

In a completely unprovoked act of aggression, so common amongst backwards sieve farmers, the Nomads advanced. Two Riot Grrls moved towards the armory and opened fire upm the Gangbuster and Varangian who were stationed there.

The Moiras set up a defensive position from behind the armory.

From his vantage point overlooking the armory, the Episilon had a clear view of the Moira offense. From the cover of smoke he began picking off the aggressors.

Across the battlefield the Sirius took down one of the Riot Grrls.

The Gamma and Omega moved in to take control of the armory.

With the armory secure, Kiwi quickly finished repairs to his radio. Shortly after it buzzed to life with a new message.

"Kappa 010, Shasvasti have been sighted in your area. High command has dispatched a Nomad unit to intercept. They should be in your area soon. Please allow them date passage."

Kiwi surveyed the carnage around him ackwardly.

"High command, this is Kappa 010. We have located the Nomad force...it appears they were ambushed... No survivors."

"They must have encountered another group of infiltrators."

"Yes..." said Kiwi "that's the most likely explaination..."
