My first game in this campaign and narratively fitting – my Hassassin against an Incursion Team of Shasvastii in the International Spaceport Hangar Area (unfortunately my terrain is not really fitting but that can´t be helped). I actually wanted to write a more narrative Battlereport but I am lacking the time for that, therefore a short writeup must do. Maybe next time.
Our game was very short notice and neither of use tailored the lists to the mission rather using miniatures we actually had available.
My opponent won the Lieutenant Roll and chose initiative, I took the high ground and waited out his deployment. Lacking good options I used my Fiday as a tripwire close to his fireteam that had to be taken care of and disguised my Ayyar as three Ghulam with Panzerfausts.
He opened his turn with a rampage with his Gwailos on my left flank, killing one Ghazi and taking down Leyla and the Lasiq Sniper (as well as one Ayyar Holoecho), losing one wound to Hullbreach. After discovering that on the other flank a Ayyar was ready to attack, he used his Shrouded FO and Caliban (Boarding Shotgun and Light Rocket Launcher) to hunt him down and kill another Ghazi. From his second combat group he used all orders to move the Ikadron in position, discover my Fiday and outshoot him with his pistol.
In my turn my doctors revived as well the Lasiq (despite Light Rockets from the Caliban) as Leyla. My Muyib Fireteam took down the Gwailo (the Spitfire went down in the process due to Hullbreach and could not be revived by the Doctor in the team) and the T-Drone.
In his turn he used the MedTech to bring the T-Drone back. The Shrouded tried to grab into the panoply, went down due to Hullbreach and came back thanks to Automedikit. It then started move towards the Panoply in the middle of the field.
In my turn I took out the T-Drone again and in a short range firefight that took fife orders Farzan Minelayer took out the Caliban and the Gwailos, opening the field for my Lasiq to ensure that the MedTech would not again bring back the Drone.
Now he moved up his Mentor who took down the Lasiq and the Farzan but fell himself due to Hullbreach. In my last turn my Ghulam Doctor brought back my Ayyar who could choose to make one OP either by Coup de Grace (one of my classified objectives) or by trying to use the Panoply. He went with the first option.
So the very entertaining and throughout thrilling game ended 3 (killing more army points) vs. 2 (kill more specialists, 1 classified) for my opponent.
That was close…
Thanks for all the comments and support
First – yes, it was more open than I thought, more scatter and a little area terrain like vegetation should definitely help
Second – I really struggle to apply paint to the buildings, but hat least a game mat is high in my priority list.
Third – I really hope for more battles in this campaign but I am not really sure what can be realized beten work and family.
Arabian grass space table still looks good! Better luck next time; bring more red fury!
Ooof, close game! Do you think you would’ve been better off with more cover? The table looks a bit sparse when it comes to places to hide.
Killing Dr Worm is never excess!
Nice report!
Man, that eas one close battle. Better luck next time!
Bad luck in the loss, although it seems like you put in a good effort. That hull breach sounds like it was very dangerous this game, taking out a number of figures. Haqqislam really needs to fix the roof!
Nice short basic first report! Better luck next time
Better luck in future battles!
Very cool looking table! The courtyard areas look very open from here, did it feel that way to you?
