So this was a rather interesting mission since we decided to use the 20*20 mission generation to see what they were like. We got Take Prisoners (which is basically a form of hunting party) and The Duel as our two objectives. Now I had gone with a LI style list but my choices did not leave me in a good position for this one due to my rather awkward lack of weapons to trade for adhesive ones and most of my guys being unable to trade their pistols to stun ones and the duel wasn’t great for me since I didn’t have too many good CC pieces available at the time. I won the roll off and opted to take the first turn.
I deployed to keep most of the approaches to my deployment covered while my opponent deployed most of his stuff in total cover so that I couldn’t try to take it out with my link team.

My turn 1 I started with my link team and declared my sniper the link leader to go and try and dig out his own linked sniper. He was firing through a saturation and low vis zone and while I had left my engineer somewhat exposed to an unopposed shot he opted to duel the sniper and lost taking a wound and dropping to NWI so he opted to to fail his guts roll and fall back so I couldn’t try to finish the job. The team then moved up and took out a holo echo marker which left the board mostly open to allow my Strelok camo token to move across the board towards to Mowang which after eating through my order stack gets him into position to try and glue him but goes down the his red fury in ARO.

My opponents turn 1 started with him moving a sensor bot down and steadily revealing a lot of my stuff that was hidden under camo tokens, including an e/mauler which I placed poorly and have since learned mines are S0 when revealed. He uses his LT2 and both buffs his REM and then recamos before spending several orders on fighting my scout but eventually kills him. His TAG and a further attempt by his REM to discover another of my remaining camo markers ends in failure so he instead sends his REM to try and take out my HRL but instead gets taken down by some lovely fire. He puts his TAG and Mowang on suppressive and ends his turn there.

My turn 2 started with me trying to push my link team down my left flank and trying to take out the Mowang but first gets into a duel with his linked HMG taking him out with a crit and apparently starting my dice on something of a theme with my rolling. I manage to put 2 wounds on the Mowang and he falls back leaving me to pull my link back but due to the mine couldn’t quite get everyone into appropriate positions.

My opponents turn 2 started with him trying to paramedic his downed HMG but instead just finishes him off. He then uses his LT2 to repeat the same process as before but this time targetting his holo remote. He pushes it up and drops my HRL that I was trying to use for ARO and then tries to drop my paramedic and sniper but instead gets taken down by them so he sends his TAG in to try and deal with the problem. He starts on the paramedic but his first order has his crit get counter critted by me but the second one takes my paramedic down, however the sniper was more of a problem since he decided to hang around for a bit and took my opponent 5 orders to finally bring down since it seems that while I have BTS 0 I am very good at making those rolls.

My turn 3 had me left with very few orders left but I decided to try and make the most of what I had, so I moved a camo marker up from my rear lines which my opponent failed to discover and then revealed itself to be Vassily when he tried to glue down the tag. Sadly he fails but I didn’t have many other options so I then pulled him back, again making a BTS save when my opponent tries to stun him and recamo him with my last order.

My opponents turn 3 starts with him trying to discover Vassily with his LT2 but fails and then his TAG tries to discover Vassily but as before fails so instead tries to set him on fire with an intuitve attack. Now knowing the objective is to capture at this point and not wanting to give my opponent many opportunity I opt not to dodge and just tank it but fail my ARM repeatedly and Vassily goes down, also serving my purposes here. He then pushes towards my few remaining models towards the back, getting into a brief duel with the remains of the link but fails to stun the engineer after killing the vet kazak. He takes out my spetsnaz that was sat under a token all game and goes for my spec-ops who passes his BTS from the stun round and then proceeds to beat the TAG in CC and keep my opponent from completing The Duel with his last order.

This was honestly a bit of an odd game since apparently I was able to pass all of the BTS saves but struggled with ARM. The 20*20 mission generation was rather interesting though even if I wasn’t left with many options to try and complete the objectives we got.
