Asteroid Blues

The engagement began as the kill team of Hollowmen flanked the Yan Huo side of the field. The Zuyong in the missile platform team puts eyes on the Hollowmen team who had now moved within engagement distance in the Yu Jing deployment zone. The Zuyong takes a wound but the team stays intact. However, the Zuyong sought immediate cover and lost visual of the Hollowmen.

The Rui Shi confirms the presence of heavy weaponry as it is turned to molten slag by a missile launcher. Intel was able to confirm via cube data that the ordinance came from the rooftops in the surrounding area just above the Invincible Army missile link.

The three member link consisting of two Zuyong heavy infantry and a shotgun Pangguling begin their counter assault on the left flank. The Zuyong with the HMG takes a critical hit but remains combat effective. The team eliminates both remotes in the enemy deployment zone and holds position at the center line.

The Nomad Lt and HVT are directly ahead. However, the heckler was believed to be in the area. Not wanting to overextend or become isolated in enemy territory the flanking maneuver is called off.

Back on the right flank. The Haidoa killer hacker engages in cyber warfare with the Hollowman link leader. The hollow man link is disbanded after successful hacking efforts leaving the link leader unconscious.

The Yan Huo takes an exposed position in an effort to eliminate both the Hollowmen with missile launcher and boarding shotgun at the same time. The attack is a combat disaster and the Yan Huo is Kia from one ARO after missing all missile shots.

Discipline among the ranks begins to deteriorate and moral drops. Dissention spreads as a response to the tactical blunder that killed the Yu Jing missile platform.

Command does not respond well and creates another tactical error. Desperate for results, the Lt Dao Ying with boarding shotgun reveals from her camouflaged state to engage an exposed Hollowman with spit fire.

The gun fight is successful for the Dao Ying and the Hollowman is left unconscious and bleeding as an example to the rest of the nomads forces. However, the lieutenant of the Yu Jing forces is now exposed and in close proximity to three more Hollowmen.

The three remaining Hollowmen form a new link. They are outfitted with a boarding shotgun, missile launcher, and multirifle. The Nomad commanding officer capitalizes on the Yu Jing blunder and moves through the Yu Jing deployment zone.

Missiles rain down on the Invincible Army forces who are caught in bad positions. The Zuyong from the former missile link team is KIA.

The Hollowman link then assassinates the Dao Ying Lt and Yu Jing’s HVT. They continue to push all the way through Yu Jing’s deployment zone and end up behind the Zuyong link team convering the left flank. The Zuyong with the HMG is the only survivor after multiple missiles compromise their position.

The Nomads redeploy into a more defendable position and wait to ambush the surviving members of the Invincible Army force.

Realizing their mistakes, Yu Jing command makes the Zuyong HMG the new Lt. The forward deployed zencha embarks on a suicide mission to kill the enemy Lt. He climbs over a building separating him from the enemy Lt and attempts to discover him. However, before completing his mission he succumbs to a hail of gunfire from the Nomad forces.

The HMG Zuyong then also makes a daring run for the enemy HVT and Lt. He exchanges his life for a confirmed kill on the enemy HVT. But once again, the Yu Jing commanding officers’ heroic acts have disastrous externalities. Yu Jing’s newly appointed Lt dies before he can make it to the enemy Lt.

Having victory in their grasp, the Nomads simply redeploy to more secure positions and make repairs to one of the downed remotes.

Somehow in all of the gun fire and missile armaments, the Haidao killer hacker with boarding shotgun was left alive on the right flank. With the mission already a critical failure, he decides to make the most of his new promotion to Lt.

The Haidoa racks four dispersion mode rounds into his shotgun and moves out for revenge and honor. He rounds a corner and drops the Hollowman with spitfire. With two more blasts from his shotgun he dispatches the missile launcher wielding Hollowman. A small token of Justice after the crippling damage he inflicted on the Yu Jing forces.

With only two remaining units, Yu Jing pulls out of the engagement with three victory points gained. The nomad forces establish strongholds and refortify their position with their 10 victory points.
