“Tom, I’m here in the infirmary with Daiyokai Dengekitai operator Yusuf Nakayama. Nakayama was recently involved in a brutish close quarter’s firefight involving insurgents from the Arianda nation. It appears as though the initial Tartary Army Corps insurgency was just the precursor to a full assault on the Main Strip.

Nakayama managed to hold the line against a renewed assault, at the cost of severe injury to himself – a truly selfless act, and one that has become all too common in recent weeks as our Ikari protectors have stepped up to meet every threat head on.

Nakayama showed true courage under fire for the second conflict in a row as his portable missile managed to down a nefarious hidden Ariadnan lieutenant, and managed to barely escape with his life. Others were not so lucky.

We mourn the loss today of many brave warriors of the Tanko Zensenbutai, ambushed by an infiltrating dog warrior and its handler.

As the battle escalated, it was clear that the key to this victory lay in the suppression of the commanding officers. Lieutenant Makiko strategically positioned the alien warriors under her control to provide a difficult to penetrate protective screen around her position. Despite numerous attempts on her life – including a punishing, unbridled barrage of grenade fire – she emerged from the battle unharmed.

The reports of local legend Yojimbo falling in battle in the previous skirmish appeared to be exaggerations as he personally charged into the fray, neutralizing multiple threats as the Ariadnan lines began to crumble.”

“Unbelievable scenes coming out of the Main Strip, Kisha. Any update on why there have been so many forces engaging in hostilities in our previously peaceful urban paradise?”

“While unsubstantiated, we believe these Ariadnan forces are in the employ of the Yu Jing State Empire. The Ariadnans arrived on Novyy Bangkok in support of the O-12 forces to help route out the Shasvastii infiltrators – most likely the ones responsible for orchestrating the Haqqislam attacks. The Ariadnans have been constantly under attack at their posts in the Xaraks Battery, and have shamefully ceded control of their emplacements to the Tohaa and Haqqislam. The State Empire has been vocal in its unlawful harassment of our close allies in the Free Nation of Japan, so the displaced Ariadnan forces were the perfect opportunity to help them apply pressure.

While in this instance the brave Ikari were successful in fending off the advance, we need to be ever vigilant. Reports are coming in that the State Empire are amassing forces for a final offensive into the Main Strip, that will surely cost the lives of many gallant defenders of Novyy Bangkok.

I’m fairly certain this was both my and my opponent’s first 400 point game, so we decided to learn into making it as complex as possible with a spec ops, the free Wild Bill and the bonus 25 points for Ikari.

But oh my God was it a lot of fun! Definitely not something I’d like to do on a regular basis, but having so much redundancy and options with list building is so liberating, as is putting up so many random rifle AROs, cause who cares when you lose 1 of your 25 orders?

Yojimbo’s first impetuous move was terrifying when I knew he would get 2-4 AROs (two of the camo markers turned out to be mines or ambush so he managed to survive, but I was fairly certain he was going to die).

I definitely recommend playing some 400 point games when you get the chance.
