It’s routine. A basic mission. Perfect for a first commando. So they said…

Just getting to the dubious Main Strip of Novyy Bankok and fetch the medical supplies needed at the front. At first sight it looked exactly like that. Only the everlasting twilight, and the usual cut-throats, roughnecks and gamblers on the streets. No coordination, no logic, not much thinking at all…
The Shadowshooter who tried to sneak up on us early in the mission would probably be the biggest threat we’d encounter, so nothing serious. Just a simple program code from my Danavas Hacker and the Shadowshooter would be under control, following us at a distance appropriate for such a suspect. We did not want to draw too much attention, so we stayed away from the main roads. Finally we got there, the first Tech-Coffin was in sight.
All of a sudden a howling and the well known pffffff of a smoke grenade nearby, and all of a sudden my troops saw themselves opposed by a well trained and experienced force of the non-aligned army, hellbent on claiming the desired supplies before we could.

Turn 1

First casualty was the Kum who rode his bike straight in the fireline of a Dakini Sniper on the roof. But the first smoke was placed perfectly covering the most central Tech-Coffin. Aware of the sniper, Zúyŏng tried his best and took him down.
Covered in smoke, the NA-2s managed to get to all three Coffins and loot them. With a full HMG-salve even the MSV Deva fell, and the fireteam was completely disordered.
The remaining Dakinis formed a new squad and went to hunt down the prey. Sadly, some malfunctions of these fresh-from-the-press-soldiers lead to very limited success by killing a Shadowshooter seemingly controlled by the enemy. Asura lost temper and went on a hunt on her own. One Zhēnchá and one Bounty Hunter fell prey to her. Still in the mood to kill, she prepared for suppressive fire covering most of the opponents’ hideouts.

Turn 2

The NA-2 backed mostly away, guarding their supplies. Still aware of the threat Asura posed, the Rui Shi took the lead of the fireteam and fired everything on her, supported with a Marksmanship upgrade by Valerya Gromoz. Salve upon salve, and Asura was still not down! So the fireteam searched for cover.
Meanwhile McMurrough snuck up on the remaining Dakinis, again covered in smoke like a sneaky coward. He charged on two of them, ignoring the HMG bullets bouncing off his armour, and tore the Paramedic apart. The Dakinis seemed helpless, as their electric pulse did not even affect the big bad wolf.
One Dakini sacrificed himself to clear the line of fire for the HMG, which took McMurrough under fire. Successfully dodging the bullets, he went backwards into cover, unaware of the Danavas Hacker waiting on the other side of the bridge, who readily took him down from behind. Encouraged by her success against the beast of war, she advanced and killed the hiding Dozer next, completing her Map of the area by the way.
Finally it was a lost and dying Libertos who landed the final critical hit on Asura and finished her off before taking his last breath.

Turn 3

No chance for my troops to save the Supplies. Not even a chance to reach the thiefs. Not after their last spectacularly successful attempts at hunting down and killing my Danavas who’d done a really great job on this mission. Without much resistance left, the NA-2 even managed to Scan the Data of the HMG Dakini and gather the Telemetry…
Last thing to do was to release the unconscious McMurrough. Professionally done by Sophotect herself with a Coup de Grace.

Beaten and unsuccessful, the remaining survivors fled the scene. For now.
