Asteroid Blues

The mission was clear, infiltrate the Admin building, get the beacon and get out. No alarms, or at least that was the plan. But when we reached the area the Shock Army had already set up a defensive perimeter. Our forces fanned out but it was immediately clear who was commanding them. Our Zero infilitrator was able to place a mine to help hold the midfield early and our Kriza set up a killing field, while the Lunokhod and its accompanying Koalas set up to make any attempt to reach the Interventor Lieutenant as deadly as possible.

Our Kriza Crisis Unit was countered by a sapper and a PanO remote toteing a total reaction HMG. Not the kind of fire you want to walk into, so seizing the initiative we began pushing our remotes forward. Slicing the pie the Tsyklon was able to deal with the Sapper, clearing the way for the Kriza to bring its impressive fire power to bear against the Aconticemento bot.

Meanwhile, our Lunokhod set its first koala and advanced up the flank to establish a kill zone in front of our Interventor that would force any opposing forces to face down the Heavy Shotgun orHeavy Flamethrower in addition to a koala and the Interventor's own response through its built in repeater.

Seeking to press our rapid assault and clear a path to the beacon the Tsyklon climbed a building to draw a bead on OpFor's sniper, but even with the Interventor's supportware the Bagh-Mari sniper proved the better, dropping the Sputnik unit.

The Bagh-Mari sniper, tasting blood proceeded to commit a blatant war crime, gunning down a member of the press before discovering and one-shotting the infiltrated Zero.

And with the coast mostly clear, the PanO Peacemakers pushed forward, gaining a strong foothold in the midfield, and surviving the deadly hug of a CrazyKoala on our right flank.

But in a battle of the flamethrowers, the Lunokhod proved the better armored, shrugging off the AuxBot's attack, while lighting it aflame in return.

The Hellcat attempting to get the drop on the Bagh-Mari sniper unfortunately ended up far off course, but luckily was able to withstand a barrage of return fire while rapidly unloading its shotgun into several nearby enemies leaving a whole in the enemies defenses full of unconscious PanOceanians and ALEPH forces before falling.

With that, the enemies main force was forced to approach, bringing the sniper rifle to bear to finally deal with the Kriza before turning their sights on the Interventor. Our Interventor bravely held her ground as long as possible, before bringing up a white noise zone to foil the Bagh-Mari's aim.

With time running out to complete the mission our Daktari bravely, but ultimately incorrectly, rushed the enemy lines to remove the mines placed by OpFor, leaving just enough time for the Lunokhod to breach the enemy lines, clearing the remaining peacemaker and a camouflaged killer hacker while weathering significant return fire. The decision to drop the brightness input to the lowest possible operational thresholds allowed the bot to shrug off 4 flash pulse attempts as it rushed to and secured the beacon.

Unfortunately, in the waning moments of the battle most of the remaining nomad force sacrificed themselves attempting to prevent OpFor from acquiring our beacon, with our Liason Officer, and Engineer bravely standing against the enemies core fireteam. As luck would have it our Zero's mine, placed before the battle would prove influential, killing the enemy Lieutenant, but even these efforts weren't enough to prevent OpFor from securing our beacon and accomplishing their objective of undermining our network. They were however, sufficent to prevent them from being able to seek retribution against our Lunokhod effectively.
