Asteroid Blues

Satisfied with the results from the last mission, everyone of the Quapu Khalqi subgroup 14NB hoped to get back to everyday business when returning to the barracks. At least they had some silk-trade to control. Unfortunately new orders arrived together with some new corsairs before reaching home:
Combined Army forces in this area could only be a hint for a hidden gathering point somewhere under the battery field of Novyy Bankok. So the alien-force should be hunted down completly.

Following the tunnel of the first mission, it did not take long until the first bullets flew through the corridor. 14NBs soldiers had reached a well prepared Combined Army post and had to get into position quickly.
Without any time to rest or to consilidate the force, smoke appeared on the left flank and a suspicious shadow crawled along the right flank. Simultanously the Djanbazan gunner got hit by a Daturazi and the Warcor was shot unconscious by a Noctifer. Barely to understand the voice of one Druze could be heared with a prayer, not to understand by the rest of the team. But it was not sounding optimistic. The Ghulams in the center had no time to think about this, as the Noctifer began shooting at them, killing the sniper and the group leader, laying on the back of the building. Now even the non-Druze soldiers knew, that things were going down.
Luckily the coordinates of most of the Combined Army forces could be transmitted to the corsairs, before the group leader went down. The first Yuan Yuan dropped in best position between the Noctifer and some Morats, the second one took all the luck available and scattered in a position not planned, but quite nice between the Noctifer and a second Morat-group. Forcing his luck, he went forward and could down the Morat hacker and a support remote, before getting shot. The other Yuan Yuan gave his best and after many tries could kill the Noctifer.

Nearly all efforts by the Haqqislam-forces were meaningless, because of the enemys med-tech. This one was better trained than his colleague and revived the Morat Hacker and the support remote without any problems. With no resistance on the left flank, his next target was the communication antenna, where he sent his first report. A new born Kornak advanced on the right flank, killing the last Yuan Yuan. The Morat HMG then shot down the last heavy weapon of the force.
Now everything was on the Druze. In a remarkable acceptance of their own fate, clear by all the bad signs, the gunner left his position to get shot immideatly by the HMG Morat. The bad luck continued with all attempts of landing pitchers or E/M-grenades somewhere useful went unsuccessful. At least the Hawwa succeeded in killing the Daturazi.

If there was any resistance, it was broken now, so the second antenna could be activated by the Morats and together with Kornak, the hacker went into position on the tech-coffin to disturb the ammonition-supply of the battery. The left Unidrons and the HMG took positions around this.
With this result, there would be no way home. In all the fatality of this mission, the last two Druze advanced and with Allahs help, one bullet found his way directly into the heart of the hacker. The new awarded group-leader leaped around his cover and started shooting on Kornak, wounding him. With new hope, the Hawwa left cover, surviving the uncoordinated shots of the HMG and unleashed his shotgun on the Morat-leader. He knew, he would not fail, but the growing flame from the Morats position also confirmed his view of his own death. While both troopers went down, the Ghulam doctor, with tears in her eyes, missed the Druze gunner with her medpack.

In the beginning darkness in the tunnel, the survivors retreated, longing for their baracks and hoping to overcome this lesson of fate.
