Asteroid Blues

The truth is discovered and now we have to think about, what to do with it. But meanwhile there are other tasks that we have to take care of.
One of it, is to finally catch the PanO agent Apate.

We are tracing her without remorse and it seems that she is once more working together with USAR forces somewhere in the battery field.
Even though we have an eye on the fact that we have to retreat from this field, we were able to command a small group of the Qapu Khalqi to handle this task.

But it seems that we have been a little bit hasty in our commotion to finaly get her. Our mission was clear, capture and secure her, but it looks like the US force has awaits us allready. Thei fireteam was well positioned and theire Grunts are deep inside our battleline, by the point we started our turn.

We were able to wipe them out, but it tooks us time, a good that we didn´t have at the moment. We knew that there would be only this one chance to get her and that we have to react as fast as possible if we want to succeed.
We put our trust in the Yuan Yuan Mercenaries for a swift strike inside Ariadnas frontline, to take her out, but we should have known, that you can´t count on these madmen. They were able to get her…at least for a short while, but that should not be enough.
Another attempt to gave them some extra cover by a flanking attack from a Bashi Bazook dies in the counterfire of their well placed guns.
We notice very fast, that we have failed. By the time the Bashi and the Yuan Yuan have fallen it was allmost clear that won´t have enough strenght to crush trough their defence and allmost a whole team of our Djanbazan Elite Troops was extincted while try to gain ground.

The only, small success was, that one of our Forward Observers was able to blow up a neuralgic ammunition depot and that we could defend ourselves long enough, till the USARF stops its counterattack.

It was a small victory by facts, but a crushing defeat by feelings. We have failed to get her and to settle this whole issue once and for all…..
