Let Them Have The Pony!
OOC: Since my gaming buddies were generous enough to give me two chances at the Battery Fields last weekend, it was my turn to give people a shot at their intended battlefields, so we ended up shooting it out at the Arachne Node. Less in-character with this report, as the game ran late, and I didn’t have the energy left to go full narrative.
Initiative: Haqqislam.
Deployment: With the sheer number of figures and markers available, I attempt a wide deployment to cover the antennae and present multiple avenues of threat.
The Mukhtar (datatracker) manages to line up a keyhole shot on the Nomad HVT with perfect range bands, but hilarity ensues as the HVT manages to make 5 armour saves over 2 orders, before finally succumbing to a 3rd shoot order.
With that using up more orders than I'd wanted, I wind down my turn coordinated orders to push pieces forward, as well as a very lucky series of hacking attacks with Leila Sharif that manages to bring down the Interventor Lieutenant with a Skullbuster SWORD program.
Nomad command is scattered with the loss of their Lieutenant, but they still make a few effective measures, with Mary Problems (cosplaying Pirate Gata) managing to KO Leila, an Intruder taking a few picked shots, while Bran sneaks up along the side to drop a memebomb into the local Haqq datasphere (Net Undermine).
Top of 2: Haqq troops move to secure the middle antenna, with the MSV-equipped Mukhtar doing solid work bringing down the Intruder, while the Djanbazan and Liberto take the mid. My sole remaining Ghazi attempts to rush Bran, but Triple Zero manages to slip away.
Mary Problems attempts to sneak forward, clambering up a building, only to be gunned down by the Mukhtar. Bran manages to take down the HVT, as well as the Ghazi, but double-deaths against a Naffatun's flamethrower.
But then the Nomads manage to walk a Sin Eater to threaten the middle zone. Sadly, this means we are tied for objective control.
Score: 5-4, Haqq favor
I attempt to dislodge the Sin Eater with a Coordinated Order, but lucky rolls mean the Sin Eater survives. And then I burn more orders, losing the Mukhtar (even at favorable range and cover) to 3 crits. The Liberto eventually brings down the Sin Eater, but at the cost of too many orders. Saladin secures one of the objective zones, but I don't have the orders left to push a drone forward and contest another antenna.
Desanges manages to pull of a close win by threatening my Djan with a mine and forcing me to react to an incoming Moran. It's a golden path turn, managing to bring down the Djan controlling the mid, while leaving them with exactly one order to secure another of their home Zos.
Score: 6-5: Nomad favor.
-Close loss, and I can't feel salty about it because those were good decisions by Desanges, and when the dice really turn against you, it's as much hilarious as it is infuriating.
-That damned Sin Eater. XD
-The Mukhtar MSV is really doing a lot of good work for me. Feels like a “Haqq Intruder” for mid-range shooting, and FD1 gives you expanded options.
-The Bashi Bazouk intrigues me, and I'm happy with using the holoechoes to pop mines and koalas, but didn't choose a good ambush target.
Mukhtar seems an awesome profile indded, but I wait to have the mini to try him.
Lol, that batrep title! Great report even despite the loss. Well done!
Good report and a close one. Trust in fate, it will become better next time!
Gah, so close! Well played and better luck next time!
Yeah, should use more holoechoes
I love Sin Eaters. Often they die quick, but sometimes they really live up to it and steal order after order.
We got our pony!
Go Go Nomads!
Well played, even though it was a loss. Holo-echoes are indeed an excellent way of eliminating mines, Crazy Koalas and the like. Funny, my last game involved a Hawa taking 4 orders with a BSG to kill a Tohaa from behind at good range with unopposed shots. Dice certainly do strange things!
Sounds like we have similar tastes. I also really like the Mukhtar, and Bashis are great. And I also fear the Sin Eater.
