The Smuggler was waiting outside the airlock on arrival. Sporting bright red dreadlocks, an extremely illegal arsenal and a quantronic seal of impeccable provenance.
“Welcome to Novvy Bangkok commander your arrival is timely; form an assault squad.”
… “I think a briefing is in order”
“Immediately commander! you are authorized to bring maximum firepower, liberty cargo is now your frontline. Xi Zhuang here will be your liason officer.” A friendly faced celestial guard with a pair of chirpy robotic goats emerged from behind her waving genially.
Let me see that damned seal… wretched locals.
Naturally when we arrived the warehouse district was empty. As protocol demands we sent the kuang shi in first. To disable the booby traps and flush out any ambush. Little did we know the snake eaters had already deployed. Only a single trigger happy helot broke discipline to open fire on the mighty guijia I was provoked into deploying. After disposing of this creature we managed to draw a zulu cobra out of hiding and dispatch him with chain rifle fire.
In return the snake eaters began to spring a multi-layered ambush, the first red fury echo bravo emerged unexpectedly from behind a warehouse and severely injured my LT. This disrupted our command link and things became confused.
Without any guidance from myself the troops pursued their natural inclination to rush into the midfield, major luna avenging my field commander, our guijia proved competent to lead the squad. Performing some fire support duties, overwatching the midfield, taking out another helot despite receiving critical damage from incoming rockets.
Panoceanian troops continued to trickle in as our window of opportunity receded, a zulu cobra marksman revealed and further damaged the guijia, falling to a chain rifle for his trouble. Reserves are suspiciously slow and largely ineffectual, we were shooting at shadows, these operators played a strange game.
Without sensors to ferret out our ghostly opposition we could do nothing but try seize ground and prepare for the counter attack. I dropped in our tiger soldier to follow up on the pulpi mascot this particular squad of snake eaters seem so fond of. Fanned out the team, positioned luna to pick off any incomings and even sent a monk in for an (unsuccessful) attack on the only visible target, a croc man who proved able to defend himself.
At last with time running out the panoceanians revealed themselves, 2 croc men rush past my sentries to secure the central zone. A third is torn apart but the explosive rounds of the guijia just short of my nearside zone. Pollitts troopers hold the centre with their revealed croc man liason, whilst yu jing holds the near and far side zones despite the soldiers of varuna contesting at every turn, we both succeed at securing intel, with yu jing securing follow up.
Aftermath…?
“With the build up of new, uncorrupted forces from out of system, liberty cargo is no longer safe. We can report that the materials for passage have been exfiltrated. Both Yu jing and Pano were damaged by this exchange, all that East of Irem has to show for this are some few meager supplies for the queen of scrap, his superiors will be displeased. Furthermore our codes are working, we can manipulate them, at least for now… Aida out”
Love that Antenociti terrain. Really cool asteroid table you put together there.

Mr Boob and Mr Dice, consider yourselves invited up to the West Midlands to defend your notions of timely narrative purity in person with dice and minis. Otherwise thanks for your patience 😀
Roger roger, I’ll wait 😉
Don’t submit reports before they’re finished, it’s only going to lower the score you get.
